  • Patent number: 5088484
Abstract: The invention provides improved orthopedic cast bandages and improved orthopedic casts which include one or more colors. The orthopedic cast bandages of the invention comprise an open mesh fabric tape and a hardenable liquid resin coated onto the fibrous tape. At least one coloring agent is visibly disposed on at least a portion of the fibrous tape. The coloring agent is stably retained by the fibrous tape in the presence of the hardenable liquid resin. Because the coloring agent is stably retained by the fibrous tape, the invention provides for colored orthopedic casting tapes which do not require the use of colored liquid resins. In addition, multiple colored, patterned orthopedic casts, not heretofore available, are provided by the invention.

  • Patent number: 4950619
Abstract: A high resistance load resistor in a static memory device and the method of fabricating such device is disclosed. The device is fabricated by depositing a first insulating oxide layer on a semiconductor substrate and depositing a first polysilicon layer on the first insulating oxide layer. The first polysilicon layer is etched to form a first polysilicon pad and a second polysilicon pad with the first polysilicon pad spaced apart from the second polysilicon pad. A second oxide layer is deposited on the first polysilicon layer and the first oxide layer. The second oxide layer is etched thereby shaping the second oxide island layer to be contiguously positioned on each of the first and second polysilicon pads and on the first oxide layer extending between the first and second polysilicon layers. The shaped second oxide island layer includes a sidewall in contact with the first oxide layer and extending from and in contact with each of the first and second polysilicon pads.

  • Patent number: 4898159
Abstract: A ravel-free orthopaedic casting tape made with a fiberglass substrate coated with a water reactive hardenable resin. The fiberglass substrate is coated with a soft flexible binder to provide a thin stretchable coating on the substrate prior to the application of the water reactive hardenable resin to the substrate to form a casting tape. The soft flexible binder provides ravel resistance to the casting tape.

  • Patent number: 4800872
Abstract: The casting tape substrate of the present invention is coated with a very soft, low modulus binder which is compatible with the polyurethane prepolymer or other curable resin which will be subsequently coated onto the substrate to form the casting tape. The binder prevents the cut ends of the substrate from unraveling. The binder may be applied in a pattern or continuously to the entire length of the substrate or may be applied at spaced zones where the knitted substrate will be cut to form a particular length of casting tape.

  • Patent number: 4690842
Abstract: A composition with reduced tack used to reinforce polyurethane casts is disclosed. The composition has controlled foaming activity and a viscosity between 100,000 and 1,000,000. The foaming activity and viscosity and reduced tack allow the formulation to be readily applied to the cast area that is to be reinforced.

  • Patent number: 4668563
Abstract: A conformable casting tape made with a combination of high modulus fibers and an elastomeric extensible fiber. The tape is capable of stretching 40 to 200% in the length direction and has a power of between 40 and 125 grams per inch of width at 30% elongation.

  • Patent number: 4655208
Abstract: A fast setting casting tape made with a polyurethane prepolymer prepared with a hydrophilic polyol and an isocyanate. The casting tape has faster setting times than casting tapes made with hydropholic polyols.

  • Patent number: 4433680
Abstract: An improved polyurethane orthopaedic cast bandage is disclosed. The bandage is a polyurethane prepolymer coated on an open-weave, fibrous substrate. The prepolymer contains dimorpholinodiethylether as a catalyst which gives the cast bandage increased shelf stability and excellent set time.
