  • Publication number: 20060032233
Abstract: The disclosure provides a gas turbine engine having a plurality of nozzle vanes extending between an inner shroud wall and an outer shroud wall of the engine. Each of the vanes includes a leading edge and at least one cooling protrusion extending upstream from a center of the leading edge. A cooling system is provided that is operable to inject cooling air upstream from the vanes. The disclosure also provides a method of cooling a gas turbine engine. The method includes the steps of supplying cooling air to an engine nozzle upstream of a gas directing vane, and adjusting the flow of the cooling air with a cooling protrusion extending forward from a leading edge center of the vane.

  • Publication number: 20050152033
Abstract: A concept of improving a resolution by using human's visual characteristics is provided. A display device includes an image forming unit forming an image by using an emitted light and an inputted image signal, a projection unit projecting the image formed by the image forming unit onto a screen, and a movable displacement plate displacing the image displayed on the screen. As a result, a viewer can view the image at an improved resolution.

  • Publication number: 20050128443
Abstract: A system for displaying an image with a more improved resolution than the actual physical resolution, thereby obtaining the same effect of a resolution which is physically improved, wherein an image signal corresponding to one frame is separated into a first image signal and a second image signal, and a first image and a second image are formed based on the first image signal and the second image signal. The first image and the second image are respectively displayed at a first location and a second location, whereby a viewer can view the image at an improved resolution.

  • Publication number: 20050044857
Abstract: A combustor has a combustion zone and a liner bounding the combustion zone. The liner has a first end portion and a second end portion spaced a defined distance from the first end portion. The combustor has a convector spaced apart from the liner. The convector has a first end portion and a second end portion spaced a defined distance of the first end portion. A plurality of passages are located between the liner and the convector. One of the passages has a length that is longer than at least one of the defined distance of the liner and the defined distance of the convector.
