  • Patent number: 8343367
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of forming a continuous channel for gas discharge in the surface of a casting roll for twin roll strip casting, and particularly, a method of forming a continuous channel for gas discharge on the surface of a casting roll for twin roll strip casting, suitable for the formation of dimples on the surface of a casting roll for a twin roll strip caster, which includes applying a photoresist on the entire surface of a casting roll, conducting patterning on the applied photoresist, developing the surface of the casting roll, subjected to the patterning, and etching the metal surface of the casting roll, exposed in the developing, and which prevents the generation of dents, enables the manufacture of a cast product having no defects, and realizes wide applicability not only to high Mn steel but also to types of casting steel capable of generating dents or similar defects due to a large amount of volatile gas.

  • Publication number: 20120237390
Abstract: Provided is a martensitic stainless steel produced by a twin roll strip casting process and a method for manufacturing the same, wherein the hot rolled steel has superior crack resistance. The martensitic stainless hot rolled steel sheet comprises, by weight %, C:0.1 to 1.5%, Cr:12 to 15%, Ni:1% or lower, Ti:0.005 to 0.1%, and the balance Fe and unavoidably added impurities, and wherein a primary chrome carbide precipitated at a grain boundary is fragmented and refined. Provided is a high hardness martensitic stainless cold rolled steel sheet manufactured by annealing and cold rolling the hot rolled steel sheet, and a method for manufacturing the same. A twin roll strip casting process is applied, and grain boundary strengthening elements are added to prevent center segregation, crack and strip breakage during casting, thereby ensuring the stability of the casting process.

  • Publication number: 20070295473
Abstract: The present invention provides a robust control method for maintaining a melt level at a constant value in a mold in a twin roll strip casting process. In the twin roll strip casting process, whether using a stopper system (3), which is provided in a tundish (2) to supply melt into the mold, or using a camera system, which measures the melt level in the mold, the robust control method of the present invention controls the melt level both using an advanced controller, which controls, at an initial stage of the casting process or when a disturbance arises, the target value of the melt level such that the target level corresponds to the performance characteristics of the melt level control system, and using a feedback controller, which maintains the melt level at a constant value under normal casting conditions.
