Abstract: A method for processing or manufacturing a meat product is disclosed. Frozen meat is provided into a meat grinder having a grinder plate having a first surface and a second surface defining apertures of different sizes and shapes extending between the first surface and the second surface. The meat is urged through the apertures by a coolant and chopped or broken into frozen pieces by a blade rotating a spaced distance from the second surface of the plate. The frozen pieces are then provided into and conveyed by an auger conveyor as more coolant is provided into the conveyor to further cool the meat pieces. The meat pieces are then sifted to more optimally obtain desired pieces sizes or range of sizes and/or sublimate the coolant.

Abstract: A raw frozen meat product is disclosed. The meat product is provided in a package in a range of sizes less than one-half inch in irregular diameter, each size making up a predetermined percentage by weight of the total meat in the package. The meat is provided in a tray and a carton for receiving the tray of meat. The carton includes a bottom surface, a top surface, a rear surface and a front surface, is self-standing on the bottom and rear surface, and the top surface and the front surface define a cutout so that the meat product can be visually examined by a consumer when standing on the bottom surface or rear surface.

Abstract: A food package is provided that includes a compartment in which food items are carried and a holder portion which allows a user to place the food item therein with the food item held in a stationary position. The food holder can serve as a staging area for combining the food item with other food items or can be used as a placement location for a partially eaten food item. In the preferred multicompartment package, an improved back card construction is also disclosed.

The shelves extend from a back wall inclined from the vertical and may be arranged either in columns or staggered from one row to another. The shelves are recessed so as to receive merchandising cartons and to provide support for the merchandising cartons as individual product units are removed therefrom. The shelves are spaced apart to allow light to enter the lower rows.
