  • Patent number: 9063683
Abstract: Methods and systems provide a network-based site for obtaining user preferences, using a computerized device connected to a computer network. User preferences are received through the network-based site, and the user preferences comprise printer option selections that are specific to a specific printing device and a specific user. Such methods and systems store the user preferences using the computerized device. After storing the user preferences, the methods and systems receive a print job and an indication to apply the user preferences. In response to only receiving the print job and the indication to apply the user preferences, the methods and systems automatically print the print job according to the user preferences using the specific printing device.

  • Patent number: 7812997
Abstract: A number of different print jobs having different print quantities can be combined into a single job that results in reduced bindery costs. An imposition is produced with the print patterns for the different print jobs in different print positions. Jobs with larger print quantities can occupy a greater number of print positions. The allocation of print positions among the different print jobs can be based on quantity ratios. A print job having twice the quantity of another should occupy twice the number of print positions. Proper allocation of print positions results in maximizing the number of sheets that can be printed with a single imposition. Maximizing the number of identically printed sheets results in reduced bindery costs.

  • Publication number: 20080278745
Abstract: A system and method for sending different portions of a document to different output destinations where different portions of a document can be processed differently. The notion of a printer or output device is expanded to include multiple destinations with rules that define what content will be sent to each of the destinations. In order to ease management of the system, an optional centralized management system to enable the distribution of rules to systems where the printers are defined is proposed. An enhancement to print driver software allows the additional rules-based multiple output device handling configuration and programming.
