  • Patent number: 6711406
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, facilitates changeover of mode of operation of a mobile station operable in a cellular communication system. Changeover of the mode of operation of the mobile station is required when the mobile station is operated in the packet mode and a circuit-switched call is to be terminated at the mobile station. A page is transmitted to the mobile station which includes an allocation of time during which a response to a page forming a request to suspend the packet mode of operation is to be generated.

  • Publication number: 20020173336
Abstract: The invention relates to a terminal, a terminal unit, a method, a receiving unit and transmitting unit. The terminal unit comprises a main receiver and at least one auxiliary receiver. At least one auxiliary receiver is connected to function as a receiving unit, which the main receiver controls by controlling means. At least one auxiliary receiver comprises means for supplying a signal received by it to processing by the main receiver and/or the terminal unit comprises a main transmitter and at least one auxiliary transmitter. The main transmitter and at least one auxiliary transmitter are connected to function as a transmitting unit, which the main transmitter controls by controlling means.

  • Patent number: 6396827
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, for a UWC-136 HS communication system is provided. A synchronization signal generated by the network infrastructure, constructed generally corresponding to the existing IS-136/136+ standard is received by a mobile station operable, generally, pursuant to the timing scheme defined in a GSM system. A relative timing offset between the timing schemes of the respective communication system schemes is determined and thereafter utilized for purposes of synchronization.

  • Patent number: 6327256
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, by which to transmit packet data from a mobile station to network infrastructure of a TDMA, cellular communication system at an increased rate. The increased rate is provided while still operating the mobile station in half-duplex mode of operation. In one implementation, the mobile station is operable to effectuate triple-rate communication of packet data at a multi-rate defined in the GPRS-136 standard.
