  • Patent number: 9358633
Abstract: The invention relates to an ultrasonic welding device having an oscillator, having a sonotrode, which can be caused to oscillate with a wavelength, and has a welding region in the vibration antinode of the sonotrode. The sonotrode is supported at the vibration node of the sonotrode in a first bearing. To enable both a radial and an axial alignment of the sonotrode, the first bearing has a projection, which has a U-shaped geometry in a section extending in a longitudinal direction of the sonotrode, which U-shaped geometry has side legs and a cross leg that connects the side legs, the projection engages in a recess in the sonotrode matched to the U-shaped geometry, the sonotrode is supported on the cross leg of the projection in a planar manner, and the sonotrode is axially aligned by means of at least one side leg of the projection.

  • Publication number: 20130062397
Abstract: A method for welding together at least two planar metal components oriented with respect to one another using ultrasound, wherein for the welding operation the components are arranged between a tool transmitting ultrasonic vibrations and a counter-holder and fixed between same by the application of pressure. In order for the components to have a desired orientation with respect to one another after the welding operation that corresponds to the orientation prior to the welding operation, according to the invention the components, prior to applying the ultrasonic vibrations for welding the same together, are deformed by means of at least one projection that projects from the tool and/or the counter-holder beyond the respective working surface using the application of force such that a translatable and rotatable relative movement is suppressed, or substantially suppressed, between the components and that the welding operation is carried out after the deformation.

  • Patent number: 8288653
Abstract: The invention relates to method for producing a connecting passage node or end node which has a rectangular shape in cross section and consists of electrical conductors. The nodes are produced by compacting and subsequent welding of the conductors by means of ultrasound in a compression chamber of the ultrasound welding machine of which the height and width can be adjusted and which has a rectangular shape in cross section, wherein opposite delimitation surfaces of the compression chamber form sections of a sonotrode and an opposite counter electrode, respectively. To connect electrical conductors which are difficult to weld to an end node and/or connecting passage node, the conductors (50, 52, 54) are brought into a sleeve and, subsequently, the sleeve (62, 65) is welded with the conductors in the compression chamber to form the end node and/or connecting passage node (49) having a rectangular cross section.

  • Patent number: 7878384
Abstract: An ultrasound welding device for welding metallic conductors for producing a junction point includes two welding surfaces, which are located on opposite sides, and two lateral delimiting surfaces, which extend transverse to the working surfaces and which, together, define a compression space. In order to eliminate longitudinal movement of the conductors during welding, at least one of the lateral delimitation surfaces is additionally structured next to the structured welding surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20100170935
Abstract: An ultrasound welding device and a method for connecting stranded wires in an electrically conducting manner with a metal U-shaped support by ultrasound welding, where the stranded wires are made of individual wires that are essentially aluminum. The sonotrode used according to the invention is a sonotrode has a welding surface which is shaped like an open trapezoid having short base sides as the bottom face during welding, the stranded wires directly contacting the bottom face and the lateral faces that extend therefrom and form an obtuse angle. The overall cross-sectional area FL of the stranded wires inserted in the U-shaped support and the cross-sectional area FS of the space surrounded by the bottom face and the lateral faces have a relationship FS<FL<2FS in the welded state.
