  • Patent number: 6016055
Abstract: A device for measuring the rotation speed or detecting the direction of rotation of a rotary magnetic field includes a Hall sensor which is mounted as an SMD component on a printed circuit board. A magnet wheel is secured to a rotor spindle of an electric motor and a rotary magnetic field is generated upon its rotation. A magnetic flux guide element is provided for concentrating the rotary magnetic field in the region of the Hall sensor, thereby increasing the sensitivity of the Hall sensor.

  • Patent number: 5311655
Abstract: The invention is directed to a Titanium-aluminum base alloy articles are produced from pieces of starting materials by melting thereof in a metallic melting crucible having a rotating electrode or a plasma- or electron beam device and there is then accomplished arc remelting, preferably vacuum-arc remelting following the melting of the pieces of starting materials. Furthermore, the arrangement for the manufacture of the articles formed of titanium-aluminum base alloys comprises a melting apparatus containing a rotating electrode or a plasma- or electron beam device and a vacuum-arc melting apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5021085
Abstract: The invention relates to high speed tool steels produced by powder metallurgy; to parts subject to heavy wear which are fabricated from such steel; and to a method of such fabrication. According to the invention, the part subject to heavy wear contains Nb in the amount of 2-15 wt. % and V in the amount of 1-4 wt. %, and further contains metal carbides in the amount of 10-30 vol. %; and that the lower limit of the carbon content is given by the formulaC.sub.min =0.45+0.1(%Nb)+0.20(%V),and the upper limit of the carbon content is given by the formulaC.sub.max =1.0+0.15(%Nb)+0.24(%V).In manufacturing the steel the melt of the alloying components is subjected to atomization in an overheated state (substantially above the liquidus temperature), to produce a powder.

  • Patent number: 4902355
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a titanium alloy, wherein a melted and possibly preformed part is annealed to set the starting grain structure, wherewith a first grain structure transformation is accomplished by a first cooling step, whereafter high dislocation densities are produced in the course of a hot forming step, whereupon heat treatment involving a recrystallization is carried out, wherewith in the course of a subsequent cooling a predominantly or substantially martensitic breakdown is achieved, wherewith a grain structure transformation is carried out in a subsequent annealing process, and wherewith in the course of a subsequent chilling a fine grain structure is set. At least the first cooling step is accomplished by spraying the preformed part with water and/or water-air mixtures. A spray device may be used for carrying out the method.

  • Patent number: 4654730
Abstract: A cassette holder is moveable between a first and a second end position, and has at least one actuating spring moving it from the first to the second position. The spring is a cylindrical helical spring wound around a shaft rotatably mounted on the cassette holder, and having at least one pinion meshing with a rack having the same shape as the path of movement of the cassette holder between the two positions. The spring is pretensioned, and the holder is latched in the first end position against the spring force. Upon release of the latch, the spring drives the shaft and pinion so that movement of the pinion along the rack moves the cassette holder from the first end position to the second end position.

  • Patent number: 4483708
Abstract: A method of regulating the melting rate of a self-consumable electrode during electroslag remelting in a slag bath, wherein the lowering speed of the electrode which is to be remelted, the length of which is determined, is regulated in consideration of maintaining a set or reference value of the melting rate and the current intensity and/or the potential. There is continuously determined the weight of the part of the electrode immersing into the slag bath from the actual total electrode weight and the length of the electrode above the surface of the slag bath and such is compared with a set or reference value and altered when there is present a deviation of the quotient U.sub.Ref and J.sub.Ref, wherein the former represents the reference potential or voltage and the latter the reference current, and the product remains constant. The actual melting rate is compared with a set or reference melting rate and when there is present a deviation there is correspondingly altered the product of J.sub.Ref and U.sub.Ref.

  • Patent number: 4475205
Abstract: An electroslag remelting furnace includes a liquid-cooled, open-ended mold supported by a bottom plate of high electric conductivity, for instance, formed of copper, which closes the mold at one of its ends. The mold has a plane of symmetry which contains a mold axis. At least one conductor connects at least one terminal located at the bottom plate to a source of electric current. Furthermore, the mold has a normal plane extending normally with respect to the symmetry plane which contains the mold axis. The electric conductor extends from a marginal zone on one side of the bottom plate to the terminal on the other side of the bottom plate beyond the normal plane.

  • Patent number: 4265295
Abstract: In a method of producing ingots of unalloyed and alloyed steels having an improved primary crystallization, reduced ingot segregation and a reduced content of non-metallic inclusions, liquid steel is poured into a mould in an amount substantially approximately equal to the desired weight of the ingot to be obtained, slag is applied to the steel and energy is supplied to the already melted slag to maintain the liquid core zone of the slag at a high temperature, while the walls laterally confining the slag are cooled to create and maintain a layer of solid slag in that area, the energy supply to the slag is effected by resistance heating by means of at least one consumable electrode having a chemical composition identical or similar to that of the ingot, and the quantitative composition of the at least one consumable electrode is selected in a manner as to obtain a concentration of segregating elements in the amount of steel melted off per time unit that is lower by that amount in which the concentration of seg
