  • Publication number: 20040054768
Abstract: The invention concerns three kinds of telecommunication equipment: access cards, logical access servers consisting of said access cards, and the network management system (NMS) for supervising the logical access servers. The first item of telecommunication equipment according to the present invention, the access card, is similar to a PCU card. It also includes RAM memory and at least one processor. The access card is equipped with 1) a fixed Internet address, 2) an access agent, 3) at least one management information base (MIB), and optionally 4) a supervisory agent The MIB is a virtual information base, which is used to specify data pieces in data requests. An Internet service provider's application communicates with the access agent and requests the data stored in the access card by means of the MIB. The supervisory agent controls logins to the access card and the use of the access card. The second item of telecommunication equipment according to the present invention is the logical access server.

  • Patent number: 6459893
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and system for tracing a subscription in a telecommunication system. The telecommunication system comprises a local exchange, an access node connected to the local exchange, a wireless link system connected to the access node and a telecommunication terminal connected via the wireless link system to the access node. In the telecommunication system, an IMEI code corresponding to the telecommunication terminal and an IMSI code corresponding to the subscriber have been defined. In the method of the invention, the tracing of the subscription is started on the basis of the IMEI code and the tracing is converted into IMSI tracing. In the system, the access node comprises means for tracing a subscription on the basis of the IMEI code and means for converting the IMEI tracing into IMSI tracing.

  • Publication number: 20020137491
Abstract: Method for transmitting the status of an answering service comprised in a local exchange in a telecommunication system comprising a local exchange (LE), an answering service (1) connected to the local exchange, an access node (AN) connected to the local exchange, a wireless communication system (WLL) connected to the access node and a telecommunication terminal (MS) connected via the wireless communication system to the access node. In the method, a port-specific connection from the access node (AN) to the local exchange (LE) is set up, the status of the answering service (1) is verified in the access node (AN) and, based on the status of the answering service (1), an announcement is sent from the access node (AN) to the telecommunication terminal (MS).

  • Patent number: 6275943
Abstract: The invention relates to a procedure for carrying out checking functions relating to safety management in a mobile communication network and/or in a wireless local network during call setup. In the procedure, information about the degree of occupancy of a data processing apparatus implementing the checking functions in a network element, such as a mobile communication switching center and/or the access node of a wireless local network, is continuously determined, the frequency of execution of the checking functions is adjusted based on the occupancy information thus determined, and checking functions are carried out on the calls according to the checking frequency defined for the respective degree of occupancy.

  • Patent number: 6185412
Abstract: The invention relates to a procedure for ensuring emergency calls in a wireless local loop environment which is based on technology employed in a mobile telephone system and which comprises a telephone exchange (1), an access node (2) connected to the telephone exchange, a terminal device (3) and a base station (4) connected to the telephone exchange via the access node and serving to transmit call signals between the access node and the terminal device, in which the home network (5) of the terminal device is defined by the base station and the associated access node and in which base stations (7) of other networks are disposed in the environment of the local loop, so that the terminal device receives information signals from the surrounding base stations and, based on said information signals, determines the base station it is communicating with, and the emergency call is set up via any base station compatible with the terminal device.

  • Patent number: 5970415
Abstract: A method and a subscriber unit and a subscriber network element, in a radio system provided with a wireless local loop, for handling a collision of an outgoing call from the subscriber unit and a terminating call at the subscriber unit. When the collision is detected, the switching of the outgoing call is interrupted, a release frame is transmitted to the subscriber unit, a busy tone is transmitted from the subscriber unit to a subscriber in response to the release frame, a calling is transmitted to the subscriber unit, and the terminating call is switched to the subscriber unit after responding to the calling.

  • Patent number: 5848138
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transmitting tariff data via radio-frequency signals to a chargeable subscriber unit (1) communicating with a telecommunication network (7). In order to charge the user of the subscriber unit as fairly as possible, a tariff frame corresponding to a lump sum is transmitted to the subscriber unit (1), charge-metering signals received from the telecommunication network (7) are counted, and when the monetary value corresponding to the number of the counted charge-metering signals exceeds a predetermined threshold value, a new tariff frame corresponding to a lump sum is transmitted to the subscriber unit (1). The invention also relates to a system where the method according to the invention can be applied.
