  • Patent number: 4787775
Abstract: An arrangement for transmitting force in a predetermined direction from a sheet of weldable polymer material to a supporting surface, especially for fastening the sheet to the supporting surface. A fastening element anchored in the supporting surface extends through an orifice in the sheet and carries, on the side of the sheet facing away from the surface, a batten which extends parallel to the sheet transversely to the predetermined force direction. The batten is surrounded by an enveloping body which has been applied in molten form and is welded to the sheet.

  • Patent number: 4552485
Abstract: A process for laying a prepressed pipeline and pipe advantageously employed therein are described. Concrete pipe sections have an inner lining of a polymeric material anchored by flexible projections to the inner surface of the pipe. The thickness of the lining is increased at the ends of the pipe to form an elongated sealing surface and a stress absorbing region. A compression seal may thereby be employed. Stresses created by the seal are absorbed both by the thickened region and by a shoulder formed in the concrete wall of the pipe. In use, compression is maintained as the result of friction between the pipe well and the surrounding earth.

  • Patent number: 4499923
Abstract: A concrete pipe of the type employed, for example, in large sewers is described, having a concrete wall and an inner lining sheet of a polymeric or other plastic material anchored to the wall by a layer of fabric welded or otherwise firmly connected to the sheet. The fabric includes a plurality of preferably monofilament projections having a higher modulus of elasticity than the material of the sheet which projections extend into the inner wall of the concrete pipe and anchor the fabric and sheet thereto. A protective plastic ring and a covering strip positively support the sheet at the joint between two pipes.

  • Patent number: 4289552
Abstract: A method of welding together a pair of thermoplastic sheets each including pposite surfaces bridged by a terminal edge defining an edge portion by placing the edge portion of a first overlapping of the pair of sheets into overlapping relationship with a second edge portion of a second overlap of the pair of sheets and with the terminal edges thereof spaced a predetermined distance from each other and in generally parallel relationship to each other, applying a continuous linear strip of plastic welding material in thermoplastic state progressively and in generally parallel relationship to the terminal edges along surfaces of the overlapping and overlapped edge portions and in bridging relationship to the terminal edge of the overlapping edge portion, performing the overlapping in the absence of overlapping any portion of the overlapping first sheet upon itself and in the absence of overlapping any portion of the overlapped sheet upon itself, and applying heat to those surfaces of the overlapped and overlappin

  • Patent number: 4061519
Abstract: Method for joining sheets or panels of polyolefin is provided in which a layer of additional material is placed between heated polyolefin sheets or panels to be joined; the additional material being heated to a temperature sufficient to impart a sufficient level of heat to the surfaces of the polyolefin sheets to permit effective welding of the sheets to the additional material through the medium of a continuously operating pressure applying device.

  • Patent number: 3968658
Abstract: Method and apparatus for placing a horizontally elongated flexible material in vertical position in a trench are provided in which a portion of the trench is cut and the material placed therein. The open trench is then filled and the next section of the trench is cut and material placed therein. The process is separated until the desired length of the trench has been cut and the material has been placed therein. A cassette is provided which contains the material. The cassette has a slot to permit the material to pay-out as each section of trench is cut.
