  • Patent number: 8849136
Abstract: In a method to determine an electrical potential at a predetermined point on a surface of a photoconductor rotating with process speed in an electrophotografic printer, a charge reversal station is arranged at the photoconductor to reverse a charge of the photoconductor. A potential measurement probe is provided adjacent to the photoconductor to measure a potential at the photoconductor. The photoconductor is operated with a speed reduced from the process speed in a ratio of a distance between the charge reversal station and the potential measurement probe and the distance between the charge reversal station and the predetermined point. The potential at the photoconductor is measured via the potential measurement probe which creates a measurement value at the reduced speed. The photoconductor is accelerated to the process speed. The measurement value of the potential measurement probe is used as the electrical potential at the predetermined point.

  • Patent number: 7050749
Abstract: In a device for fixing toner images on a recording medium in a printer or copier, fixing takes place with aid of a heat radiation source comprising ignition elements arranged in a heating module. Since the ignition elements are small, radiation areas of differing geometric extension can be created by their arrangement in the heating module.

  • Patent number: 7027078
Abstract: With a control device to optimize charge image generation in an electrophotographic process, a light-sensitive and temperature-sensitive photoconductor layer is exposed pixel-by-pixel with a temperature-sensitive light source. The photoconductor layer becomes more sensitive with rising temperature, such that given a predetermined light quantity it discharges deeper. With rising temperature, given the same actuating power, the light source emits a lesser luminous power. The luminous power of the light source and the discharge depth of the photoconductor layer are temperature-dependent via adjustment of the current and/or the luminous duration that flows through the light source and/or the luminous duration. During the measurement of the discharge depth, a temperature measured in the course of the measurement event is used as a reference value for the temperature compensation of the light source.

  • Patent number: 6721528
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a lateral position of a band-shaped intermediate image carrier in an electrographic apparatus by regularly detecting a mark on the intermediate image carrier with a sensor. The band-shaped intermediate image carrier is moved in a transport direction from an image generating position at which an image is generated on the image carrier to a transfer position at which the image is transferred. A transverse position of the intermediate image carrier relative to the transport direction is detected and is time correlated with the regular detection of the mark. Intermediate position detections are carried out between the regular detections of the mark in a time-controlled manner. The detected positions are compared to stored position values or calculated theoretical position values and the results of the comparison is used to control position correction devices which change the transverse position of the intermediate image carrier.

  • Patent number: 6498909
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for adjusting an electrographic printing or copying process, information to be printed is generated as a toner intermediate image on a support for intermediate images and is subsequently transmitted from a reprinting surface to a recording medium at a transfer printing zone. A toner mark is produced on an electrographic support for intermediate images. The toner mark is at least partially scanned on the support for intermediate images and is then removed from the support for intermediate images. The toner Ad concentration is adjusted in a developing station by means of a measured value based on scanning the toner mark. Transfer of the toner intermediate image from the reprinting surface to the recording medium at the transfer printing zone is at least temporarily prevented in the period between the production and the removal of the toner mark.

  • Patent number: 6366742
Abstract: In a method for improving the printing quality for electrographic color printing, print consumables, particularly toner, are monitored in container-exact fashion and substance-specific information are employed for the control of the printing process. Toner expiration dates for the consumables are identified and noted early at the respective printing location. The consumable contained in the container and the amount of consumable contained is thus stored in machine-readable fashion at the container. An information carrier is provided at the container for non-contacting transmission of data and energy from a data read and/or write station to the container. A transponder that is provided with an individual hardware identifier is provided as the information carrier. The hardware identifier may be employed as a component part of codes for device control. The printer or copier system disclosed includes a recycling concept for consumables containers.
