  • Patent number: 5078729
Abstract: A pair of elongated interlocked pivotal clamping members having opposing, normally closed, openable jaws structured for enclosing the body of an embedded tick within a cavity formed between the closed jaws. One jaw has a semicircular notch centered with the cavity. The notch forms an aperture when the jaws are closed. The aperture is sized for snug fitting placement over the neck of the tick to hold and prevent severing of the tick's neck. One clamping memer is affixed with a compression spring which abuts the opposing clamping member to maintain the jaws in a normally closed position. Both clamping members gradually widen from the jaw end to the oppositely disposed ends thereof, which are affixed with widened finger or gripping plates for easy handling.
