  • Patent number: 4519483
Abstract: A parking brake in a transmission consists of a toothed wheel non-rotatably joined to the output shaft of the transmission and a pawl on an arm which is pivotally joined to the housing. The arm is pivotally mounted in a yoke which partially encircles the toothed wheel and is limitedly movably mounted in the housing on opposite sides of the output shaft. The yoke has abutment surfaces on diametrically opposite sides of the toothed wheel, and when the pawl engages the toothed wheel, the yoke will be displaced so that--depending on the direction in which the toothed wheel is loaded--one of the abutment surfaces comes into contact against the toothed wheel. This eliminates bending stresses on the shaft at the same time as the forces transmitted to the housing will be only a fraction of the force acting between the pawl and the toothed wheel, due to the difference in the length of the moment arms.

  • Patent number: 4483687
Abstract: Gear box, especially for motor vehicles, with a driving and a driven shaft, which carry pulleys, between which pulleys torque is transmitted by means of a V-belt or chain. The pulleys consist of discs movable towards and away from each other, to make variation possible of the speed ratio between the shafts. The movement of the discs and the clamping force against the V-belt is controlled with the aid of hydraulic cylinder devices. The hydraulic cylinder of the driving shaft is joined to a gear which is arranged concentrically with the cylinder and which engages a gear on the input shaft of the gear box.

  • Patent number: 4469333
Abstract: A sealing device in a transmission with pressure-medium controlled, continuously variable gear ratio for sealing a pressure medium connection between a channel in the transmission housing and a central, axial bore in a pulley shaft rotating in the housing consists of two concentric sleeves with slide surfaces of fine surface finish. One end of the inner sleeve is pressed into the housing channel and is sealed against its wall by means of a sealing ring. The outer sleeve is divided into a shorter portion of large outer diameter with a longer portion of smaller outer diameter. The shorter portion is fitted into the shaft bore and is sealed against the wall of the bore with a sealing ring, there being a space between the wall of the bore and the longer portion.
