  • Patent number: 6022487
Abstract: A heat-transfer concentrate comprising a storage-stable dispersion of a heat-storage medium and gallium adsorbed onto a solid having either a particle diameter of 1 to 3 um or a pore diameter of 0.2 to 0.6 nm, or both, is provided. The invention also provides a method of manufacture for the concentrate, and a heat-transfer mixture comprising the heat-transfer concentrate and another heat-storage medium. The invention further provides methods of using the heat-transfer mixture to store and convey heat in reactors with heat exchangers, as well as methods of use in heat pumps and as a thermochemical energy-storage medium.

  • Patent number: 5727585
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for obtaining heat and/or electrical energy from sunlight with at least one solar collector (2) having an absorber (4) and an energy concentrator (6) surrounding the absorber over its length and at least regions of its periphery and optically concentrating the sunlight on the absorber (4). The energy concentrator (6) has a prism arrangement (12) of transparent material at least at its peripheral region which will be illuminated by the sunlight in accordance with the sun's daily movements, with a plurality of axial adjacent prisms (14) running parallel to the absorber (4) and distributed around the periphery. All the prisms (14) are equal sided in cross section and their apexes (18) are directed towards the absorber (4).

  • Patent number: 5449499
Abstract: An apparatus for deflecting a flow of a fluid from an inflow conduit, through a deflection zone and into at least one outlet conduit having an axis and being bent by a deflection angle relative to the inflow conduit, includes components being disposed in the deflection zone and largely avoiding a flow through an adjacent two of the components. Each of the components has a main axis forming an acute angle with the axis of the outflow conduit, is elongated along the main axis, has a first end facing toward the outflow conduit and a second end opposite to the first end, along the main axis, and protrudes into the deflection zone with the first end. The fluid may be a gas, such as flue gas and a deNO.sub.x catalytic converter may be disposed downstream of the outflow conduit.

  • Patent number: 4077245
Abstract: A production line wherein extremely heavy and bulky commodities, such as metallic bands which are convoluted on reels and weigh up to and in excess of 20,000 lbs., are treated at several stations is provided with a first magazine at the receiving end, a second magazine at the discharge end and an intermediate magazine between two neighboring departments. The commodities are transported in the magazines by vehicles which are movable lengthwise as well as up and down to store the commodities at different levels or to withdraw commodities from selected compartments of the respective magazines. Additional vehicles in the form of cars, lifters, cranes or the like are provided to transport commodities from a preceding magazine, to stations which are adjacent to various machines of the production line, and from such machines to the next magazine, always at a level above or below the level of the production line.
