  • Publication number: 20160335551
Abstract: A computer-implemented fraud detection system comprises a processor and memory storing computer-readable instructions for causing a computer to perform a method for determining potentially fraudulent records. The method performed by the computer comprises executing a trial fraud detection strategy routine on historic records in a database, the trial detection strategy comprising multiple rules including at least one weighting factor. The method further includes calculating an efficiency of the trial fraud detection strategy based on the multiple rules and executing an iterative routine to optimize adjusting the at least one weighting factor. An adjusted fraud detection strategy that incorporates the adjusted weighting factor is set.

  • Patent number: 8816681
Abstract: In a method for detecting near-surface defects in a test sample consisting at least partly of a ferromagnetic material, a test volume of the test sample is magnetized and scanned for the detection of magnetic leakage fields caused by defects. The test volume is magnetized by means of a magnetic constant field and simultaneously by means of a magnetic alternating field superposed on the constant field. Leakage field test devices suitable for carrying out the method are described.

  • Patent number: 8301476
Abstract: The invention provides methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for of determining a possible lot size of units with respect to a fixed date for a chain of at least two process steps, each process step requiring a respective assigned resource, and consuming a respective time per unit for being performed by the respective assigned resource, where the process steps are sequentially dependent on each other. This is achieved by the following: (a) determining, for each resource, a respective time interval of availability during which the respective resource is continuously available, each time interval being limited by the fixed date, (b) calculating, for each determined time interval of availability, a respective largest possible number of times the respective process step can be performed by the respective resource, and (c) selecting the lot size of units to the minimum of the largest possible numbers.

  • Publication number: 20070143131
Abstract: An automatic cost generation apparatus is provided for automatically converting user supplied definitions/requirements into cost parameters for use by a cost-based supply chain optimizer. In one example, this is achieved by generating a linear programming model that incorporates the requirements/definitions as a set of linear constraints. The linear programming model is automatically solved so as to yield a cost model, from which costs are extracted for use by the cost-based optimizer. By first formulating requirements/definitions as linear constraints within a linear programming model, the solution to the model therefore yields a cost model that satisfies the constraints, i.e. a cost model that satisfies the requirements. Hence, requirements/definitions initially provided by the user are thereby automatically converted into a cost model that incorporates costs that can be used during supply chain optimization.

  • Publication number: 20060143063
Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products are provided for allocating resources in a plannable process, wherein a number of resources is used for executing an order comprising a chain of related activities to be executed on the number of resources. In one implementation, a method comprises, for each order, identifying a first activity execution due date for executing a predetermined first activity in the order, scheduling an execution date for each activity according to a just-in-time criterion in correspondence with an activity execution due date of a related activity, identifying a second activity execution date for executing a predetermined second activity in the order that is scheduled according to the scheduling routine, and reversely scheduling an execution date for each activity according to a just-in-time criterion in correspondence with an activity execution due date of a reverse related activity, wherein the second activity execution date is kept fixed as a second activity execution due date.

  • Patent number: 6341266
Abstract: A method and system for managing inventory in a multiple level distribution chain by applying optimization algorithms to a range profile constructed from a formulation of the distribution network and the various elements factored in the network. A formal definition of the optimization problem is defined and several algorithms are proposed for the maximization of the range of coverage profiles. The optimization process minimizes transportation costs and avoid bottlenecks. However, if bottlenecks were to occur, the system prioritizes demands and provides an optimal solution for a monotone distribution of products. The basic function presented involves the steps of initializing the range of coverage profile with a starting value; computing the necessary in-flows necessary to fulfill the profile constraints; constructing the cheapest flow for these demands using a minimum-cost algorithm; and lowering or enlarging the range of coverage profiles until a solution is found.

  • Patent number: 5517114
Abstract: A device for testing elongated objects, particularly wires, optionally with cross-sectional irregularities, which has a rotating test head traversed by the object and on which is provided a probe, particularly an eddy current probe, provided on rotary probe holding means and guided on circular paths about the object. For the change of the radial spacing between the object and the probe with the test head rotating, externally controllable e.g. by a sensor for irregularities, the device has a switching device with two inherently stable switching states, whereof one can correspond to a testing position near the object and another to a raised position further removed from the object and which can be rapidly set for protecting the probes.
