  • Publication number: 20090257924
Abstract: A device for the reduction of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas of internal combustion engines has a thermolysis reactor (10). In the thermolysis reactor (10), urea is converted into ammonia and isocyanic acid by means of the supply of heat. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the thermolysis reactor (10) is arranged within the exhaust gas duct (26) and is thermally coupled to an oxidation catalytic converter (30) which is connected upstream of the thermolysis reactor (10) in the flow direction. As a result of the exothermic reactions taking place in the oxidation catalytic converter (30), it is possible for heating of the thermolysis reactor (10) to take place. In order to further increase the temperature, it is possible for fuel to be injected into the oxidation reactor (30) by means of a fuel supply device. The fuel is burned catalytically in the oxidation catalytic converter (30).

  • Patent number: 7428897
Abstract: The invention relates to a controllable two-way valve (1), in which a valve rod (3) is connected in a permanent manner to at least two valve members (4, 5, 6, 24, 25; 39, 40), the valve rod (3) being actuated by means of an actuator (2). The housing (7) comprises an inlet (8; 4) or outlet and two corresponding outlets (9; 32; 42), (10; 28; 43) or inlets. According to the invention, the two valve members (4, 5, 6; 24, 25; 39, 40) correspond with at least two valve seats (12, 17, 22; 29, 37, 38; 46, 47) and the two or more valve members (4, 5, 6; 24, 25; 39, 40) have three control surfaces (11, 13, 18; 26, 27, 31; 44, 45, 48). The invention thus provides a dirt-resistant valve, which is easy to operate, has fixed valve members and does not require additional equipment. Said valve permits both the inlet to be completely blocked and the two outlets to be controlled independently of one another.

  • Patent number: 7343743
Abstract: An exhaust gas return system for an internal-combustion machine which comprises a low-pressure supply line extending from an inlet From the compressor. a high-pressure supply line extends to the internal-combustion machine. From the internal-combustion machine a high-pressure exhaust gas line extends to a turbine. From the turbine a low-pressure exhaust gas line extends to an outlet. The low-pressure exhaust gas line and the low-pressure supply line have connected therewith a low-pressure return line for returning exhaust gas. The high-pressure exhaust gas line has connected therewith a bypass line for utilizing the heat of the exhaust gas produced in the internal-combustion machine for heating the exhaust gas to be returned of the low-pressure return line before the exhaust gas is supplied to the turbine (24), if desired. Thus the cold start phase of the internal-combustion machine can be reduced.
