Abstract: An electric dc source with fuel cells or fuel batteries connected in series or in series and parallel, not only gives quiet operation, but does so without a large power electronics system, by providing a separate gas supply to each fuel cell or fuel battery and disposing controllable valves in the gas supply lines and connecting outputs having a given polarity of the series connected fuel cells or fuel batteries to a bus bar of the same polarity via electric valves.

Abstract: A water separation cell for removing the reaction water from the electrolyte of fuel cells and fuel cell batteries which comprise a liquid chamber bounded on at least one side by a porous diaphragm, and a gas chamber bounded by the diaphragm and a condensation surface adapted for cooling, in which the liquid chamber is subdivided into two chambers of different size which are arranged on top of each other with the upper, larger chamber serving as the electrolyte space and the lower, smaller chamber taking up the condensate which passes through the porous diaphragm into this chamber due to the pressure of a gas present in the gas chamber.

Abstract: Method of removing reaction water from a fuel cell includes bringing electrolyte of the fuel cell in contact with a diaphragm having a given capillary depression pressure and permeable to water vapor so that water vapor contained in the electrolyte diffuses through the diaphragm into a chamber containing a gas at a given pressure, and passing the diffused water vapor to a location at which it engages with a cooled condensation surface and condenses thereon, the electrolyte having a hydrostatic pressure equilibrated by at least one of the pressures exerted by the gas and the capillary depression in the diaphragm.

Abstract: This patent relates to a method for the generation of hydrogen, particularly for fuel cells, as well as apparatus for practicing the method. According to the invention, particles of magnesium are reacted with water in the presence of at least one cobalt oxide and at least one water-soluble chloride. Aluminum may advantageously be included with the magnesium. This abstract is neither intended to define the invention covered by this application, which, of course, is measured by the claims, nor is it intended to be limiting as to the scope of the invention in anyway.
