  • Patent number: 5121676
Abstract: A barbecue grill which cooks food at a lower and more evenly distributed temperature and which can be effectively used for a large variety of barbecuing and cooking activity, including cooking meat, fish, vegetables, bread and the like. More particularly, a barbecue grill and cooker including a housing, a hood, a source of heat, a grease deflection and collection system which collects the grease and natural juices for later use without burning them and a heat distribution system that includes a tubular enclosure, multiple distribution conduits and which isolates the source of heat from the environment within the cooking area.

  • Patent number: 5070798
Abstract: A pellet burning appliance with an improved burner is disclosed. This improved burner includes an open ended retort in communication with a feed auger at the inlet end opposite the open end. The feed auger delivers solid fuel pellets through the inlet end which results in underfeeding action and cross-flow of the combustion bed. An air hole arrangement introduces primary and secondary air for highly efficient burning. The floor of the retort is flat, and colinear with the bottom of the auger tube. The burner is inclined within the appliance at approximately 22.5.degree. from the horizontal. This design promotes efficient burning as the constantly fed fuel spreads evenly whereby it combusts over substantially the entire length of the retort. The feeding action continually pushes clinkers and other combustion inhibiting particulates, in an unobstructed manner, off the retort's terminal end.

  • Patent number: 4565184
Abstract: A heater is disclosed for burning combustible particulate fuels. The fuels are delivered to an internal retort at a constant rate. They are burned at an open end of the retort with the aid of a primary air supply manifold that surrounds the open end of the retort and directs primary combustion air into the particulates at the open retort end. Secondary combustion air is directed through an annular air supply manifold situated above the open retort end. The hot exhaust gases pass upwardly through a combustion chamber and subsequently downwardly through an exhaust gas plenum to an exhaust gas discharge. Flow of the combustion air and exhaust gases is induced by a vacuum blower mechanism by which a reduced pressure is produced within the combustion chamber to draw air through the primary and secondary air supply manifolds. The exhaust gases drawn off by the vacuum mechanism are pressurized on a discharge side of the vacuum mechanism.
