  • Patent number: 6034529
Abstract: A local antenna for an MR device contains or carries a marking arrangement that permanently contains a substance that can be detected using MR techniques. The marking arrangement allows the substance to selectively be made visible or not visible in an MR image.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 18, 1998
Date of Patent: March 7, 2000
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Heinrich Kolem, Andreas Potthast
  • Patent number: 5913863
Abstract: In a medical compression apparatus and a compression part therefor, the compression part has a number of access openings therein allowing an instrument, such as a biopsy needle, to be inserted through one of the openings into a body part compressed by the apparatus. The compression part allows the access openings to be alterable in size and/or shape.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 6, 1998
Date of Patent: June 22, 1999
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft

  • Patent number: 5530352
Abstract: In multi-slice methods, wherein at least one further slice is excited within the repetition time for a pulse sequence for the excitation and read-out of a slice the shimming ensues dynamically dependent on the respectively measured slice. The homogeneity in the excited slice can thus be improved compared to a global shimming.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 3, 1995
Date of Patent: June 25, 1996
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventor: Heinrich Kolem
  • Patent number: 5442292
Abstract: For improving the spectral resolution and/or the signal-to-noise ratio of a nuclear magnetic resonance apparatus for examining first types of atomic nuclei that are nuclear-magnetically coupled to second types of atomic nuclei, signals are additionally emitted on the resonant frequency of the second type of atomic nucleus during the examination of the first type of atomic nucleus. To this end, the nuclear magnetic resonance apparatus includes a reception channel and only one transmission channel for both resonant frequencies. The transmission channel contains a respective synthesizer for each resonant frequency, which define the transmission frequency and contains a modulator unit shared in common by both resonant frequencies.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 15, 1995
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft

  • Patent number: 5189370
Abstract: A method for chemical shift imaging is disclosed. A first radio frequency pulse at the resonance frequency of hydrogen and second radio frequency pulse at the resonance frequency of atoms to be examined are applied. Spatial resolution is obtained by phase encoding gradients. The repetition time is shorter than the spin-lattice relaxation time. The first radio frequency pulse at the resonance frequency of hydrogen causes a Nuclear Overhauser Effect enhancement of the resonance line of the atoms to be examined.
