    Abstract: A rear view mirror assembly is provided and includes a mirror carrier plate assembly slidably engageable along a sliding direction by a holding plate of a mirror housing for securing the mirror carrier plate assembly to the housing, the holding plate having two opposite sides. The mirror carrier plate assembly includes a substantially planar mirror carrier plate having a first surface for receiving a mirror and a second surface opposite the first surface, and at least two sets of projecting clips extending from the second surface of the mirror carrier plate and configured to receive and matingly retain the opposite sides of the holding plate, the sets being disposed substantially along the sliding direction, at least one of the sets of projecting clips being disposed on the mirror carrier plate so that a first portion of the one set is disposed further from a line extending in the sliding direction than a second portion of the one set.

The mirror carrier plate assembly includes a substantially planar mirror carrier plate having a first surface for receiving a mirror and a second surface opposite the first surface, and at least one anchoring element extending from the second surface of the mirror carrier plate, the anchoring element configured to extend through the penetration opening and into the receiving channel, and being slidably receivable in the receiving channel in the sliding direction.     Abstract: A drive unit includes a housing defining a rotational axis, a drive shaft supported by the housing for rotation about the rotational axis, an actuator supported by the housing for rotation about the rotational axis responsive to rotation of the drive shaft, and a coupling mechanism for coupling rotation of the drive shaft and the actuator. The coupling mechanism includes a first frictional surface rotatable with the drive shaft and a second frictional surface rotatable with the actuator. The first and second frictional surfaces are mating conical frustrum surfaces, the first frictional surface driving the second frictional surface via friction upon rotation of the drive shaft. Means are included for urging the first and second frictional surfaces together. The urging means may include a compression spring. The coupling mechanism may include a friction ring non-rotatably mounted to the drive shaft, the first frictional surface being disposed on the friction ring.

A securing member is attached to the axle member for securing the first and second arm segments together about the axle member. A bearing brace having a fixed end is secured to one of the first and second arm segments and a free end extending from the fixed end, the bearing brace configured and secured so as to form a leaf spring. A plurality of teeth extend from one of the bearing brace and the other of the first and second arm segments.

The planetary drive may include a sun gear mounted for rotation with the second worm gear, an annular gear fixed to the housing concentric with the central axis, and at least one planetary gear driven by the sun gear within the annular gear around and spaced from the central axis.

At least one support plate is removably attached directly to the support arm vertical portion. An adjustable mirror assembly is mounted to the support plate front side so as to be variably positionable relative thereto. An antenna mounting bracket is formed integral with and extends from the support plate back side into the housing interior volume. The antenna mounting bracket is configured for receipt of an antenna which extends out of the housing. The entire weight of the antenna and the antenna mounting bracket is supported by the support plate which is in turn attached directly to the support arm.

The adhesive may be a high viscosity adhesive, with a low viscosity adhesive being disposed between the mirror glass and the mirror plate and substantially surrounded by the high viscosity adhesive. Corresponding methods for manufacturing such vehicle mirror assemblies are also included.

At least two vertically aligned support plates are disposed within the open-faced front chamber and are mounted directly to the support arm vertical portion. A remotely controlled motor drive mechanism is mounted on each support plate front side within the open-faced chamber. An adjustable mirror assembly is configured with each motor drive mechanism and includes a mirror support plate with a mirror glass surface fixed to a front side thereof. The mirror assembly is variably positionable relative to the housing and the support plate by the motor drive mechanism.
