  • Patent number: 8068753
Abstract: In a method or control device for controlling an electrophotographic printer or copier that has at least two developer stations, during a print operation print data is used to determine which developer stations are needed for printing of the data. In the event it is established that a developer station was not need or will not be needed for a predetermined time span, the developer station is shifted into a standby state in which at least one part of mechanical actuators of the developer station is stopped.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 25, 2010
Date of Patent: November 29, 2011
    Assignee: Océ Printing Systems GmbH

  • Patent number: 8023838
Abstract: In a method or system for controlling an electrophotographic printer or copier that has at least one developer station, a toner discharge from the developer station is detected during the print operation and a developer regeneration process is started when the detected toner discharge fulfills a predetermined first regeneration criterion. A charge image is generated on the photoconductor, the charge image is developed by the developer station, and the developed image is removed by a cleaning device without being transferred as printed onto a recording medium. New toner is introduced into the developer station. Also in accordance with the method or system for controlling an electrophotographic printer or copier that has at least two developer stations, during a print operation the print data is used to determine which developer stations are needed for printing of the data.

  • Patent number: 7650838
Abstract: In a method or device for control of a printer or copier, a series of discrete signal states is generated with which a drive unit for conveyance of a carrier material to be printed is controlled. A control signal is generated to end the conveyance of the carrier material. Based on the control signal, the generated series of the discrete signal states is changed at an earliest with a changed signal state following the control signal. A positioning error of the carrier material is caused due to a time period between the control signal and the changed signal state is detected.

  • Publication number: 20100007899
Abstract: In a method or system for printing a recording medium with color data and MICR data, a color printing device and at least one MICR printing device are arranged independent and separate from one another. The color printing device prints both the color data and the MICR data in encoded form as code data onto the recording medium. The recording medium is supplied to the at least one MICR printing device. The MICR data are decoded from the code data, and the MICR data are subsequently printed on the recording medium via the at least one MICR printing device.

  • Patent number: 7274901
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for generating positionally-accurate print images on a carrier material with the aid of an electrophotographic printer or copier. A positioning error of the position of the carrier material with respect to a toner image present on the toner image carrier is determined, which error occurs during the contacting of a carrier material to be printed. Dependent on the positioning error determined, for every subsequent contacting of the carrier material to be printed with the toner image carrier, the position of the carrier material with respect to the toner image is adapted before the contacting such that the carrier material and the toner image are arranged with respect to one another substantially free of positioning errors.

  • Patent number: 7260334
Abstract: A method and device controls a printer or copier to generate a plurality of marks that are assembled into a coherent marking band that is then inked by the toner. A sensor measures the marking band. The printer or copier are controlled based on the output of the sensor.

  • Patent number: 6603565
Abstract: A method for controlling a printer includes the steps of generating a plurality of set up data sets such as a first set up data set corresponding to a first printer language and a second set up data set corresponding to a second printer language. Each set up data set comprises language independent control data and language-dependent control data. The method further includes the step of loading the language-independent data and the language-dependent data of the first set up data set corresponding to the first printer language into the main memory of an electronic printer controller. During ongoing printer operation, the method further includes the step of monitoring the print data stream being communicated to the electronic printer controller and determining when a change in printer language from the first printer language to a second printer language occurs in the data stream.

  • Patent number: 6381440
Abstract: A triplex printing system has three electrographic printer devices which enables both-sided, exactly registered printing of a paper web. For this purpose, the front side is printed in a first printer, the backside is printed in a second printer and the backside is printed again superimposed in a third printer. As a result of the arrangement of two printer chains having six printers, the structuring of a variable printing system adjustable dependent on function having a plurality of printer lanes is possible.

  • Patent number: 6314249
Abstract: A method for operating a printer or copier provides that error conditions are sensed utilizing monitoring units. A determination is made as to whether the error condition is readily repairable by the user and, if so, the display unit displays information on the error condition including instructions for repairing the error condition. If, on the other hand, the error condition is determined to be repairable only by a skilled technician, the display unit displays only the instructions to contact the skilled technician.

  • Patent number: 6181885
Abstract: In a printing or copying device which has one or several exchangeable part units with a modular assembly, the part unit to be identified has an identification device with a non-volatile memory for storing function-relevant operating data of the part unit, said operating data being allocated to operating states. The part unit also has a communication interface for detachably connecting the identification device to a process control device of the printing or copying device.
