  • Patent number: 4348252
Abstract: A single unit moves into and out of a press to essentially simultaneously charge the press with the workpiece to be processed and discharge another workpiece which has been processed. The device is particularly suitable for preparing laminates in which the workpiece to be processed comprises a stack of alternating sheets of solid material and bonding material. This workpiece is referred to as a laminating pack. A table on a transfer car holds the unprocessed laminating pack. This same transfer car also has on its lower side a plurality of suction devices for grippingly engaging a processed laminate, i.e., a laminate that has been treated in the heat press. The transfer car holding the unprocessed laminating pack advances into an open press. In the press, the laminating pack is transported onto holding gibs, and the processed laminate in the press is taken up by the suction means on the bottom side of the transfer car.

  • Patent number: 4221740
Abstract: The sodium salt of 1,3-dihydroxy-2-nitropropane is catalytically hydrogenated in an inert solvent to produce 1,3-dihydroxy-2-aminopropane, which can be isolated in crystalline form.

  • Patent number: 4173275
Abstract: A device for assembling large flexible panel layers into press packs, for the production of layered pressed panels, the device including a plurality of parallel layer collecting lines with two layer stacks each, arranged on opposite sides of a transversely extending press pack assembly conveyor. The latter advances from collecting line to collecting line, as a collecting carriage in each collecting line alternatingly collects panel layers from its two layer stacks. The collecting carriages are moved by means of crank drives; the layer stacks are adjustably positioned under light beam position markers.

  • Patent number: 4151906
Abstract: An installation for the production of layered pressed panels and decorative panels, having a panel layer assembly unit and a transversely arranged press pack feeding unit, each unit featuring a horizontally extendable start-stop conveyor with a movable transfer frame whose belt guide rolls define an S-shaped belt run. The latter, while carrying a press pack, is extended over the receiving press pack feed conveyor, or panel press table, respectively, whereupon it is retracted from under the press pack, thereby gently depositing the latter, while belt clamps hold the conveyor belt in place, as the next assembly cycle takes place. The assembly of a press pack is performed by one or more layer collecting lines which pick up panel layers from layer stacks on opposite sides of the collecting conveyor of the layer assembly unit.

  • Patent number: 4046500
Abstract: A press spar construction for a heated panel press producing chipboard panels and the like under elevated temperatures and pressures, the press spar structure having a thermal barrier arranged between each pressure plate and its supporting structure, the thermal barrier consisting of rows of insulating pressure blocks and spaced steel pressure blocks arranged between the insulating pressure blocks in the areas of maximum pressure concentration. The insulating pressure blocks are coated for imperviousness against humidity, and both types of blocks have metallic shrouds with anti-friction surface coatings. Shimming sheets are placed between the blocks and the shrouds, where necessary.

  • Patent number: 4017248
Abstract: A continuously operating panel press having a series of separately adjustable heater pads and two pairs of likewise adjustable pressure rollers with intermediate pressure pads, the pressures being adjusted for a progressively decreasing pressure pattern along the work gap, a first zone being adjusted for high pressure while successive zones exert less pressure against the press work, as it is pulled through the press by means of endless band conveyors. When excessive resistance is encountered, the highest pressure is alternatingly shifted from rollers to pads and vice versa, while the other pressures are briefly relaxed.
