  • Patent number: 6435367
Abstract: The invention relates to a closing cap (10) for the fixed tubing of a motor vehicle radiator, comprising an inner part (14) with a flow connection means between the inside and the outside of the container, as well as a distributing mechanism for freeing and closing the flow connection means. A valve body (22) of the distributing mechanism (11), which can be reciprocated, is compressed under pre-stress towards the inside of the container against a sealing seat (21) at the inner part (14) of the cap, so that said valve body can be lifted from said sealing seat (21) when a threshold value of the pressure inside the container is exceeded.

  • Patent number: 6378717
Abstract: A closure cap which can screw onto the fixed neck of a cooling system expansion tank. The closure cap is provided with a screw cap and a threaded section in which a combination pressure-vacuum valve is mounted concentrically and in such a way that it can rotate in relation to the screw cap. The valve is provided with a sealing element which comes into tight contact with the fixed neck when the closure is screwed. To endure that the closure cap can be unscrewed only when the excess heat in the cooling system has been completely dissipated, it is proposed that the closure cap when screwed onto the fixed neck would be prevented from unscrewing means of a temperature-dependent control element.

  • Patent number: 6367644
Abstract: The invention relates to a sealing cap for openings in motor vehicle radiators which is provided with a cap inner part (4) having a flow connection between the interior of the container and the exterior of the container as well as a valve arrangement (5) for unblocking and blocking the flow connection. The valve arrangement (5) comprises a first (7) and second (8) valve body which can move between an unblocking position and a blocking position in a to-and-fro manner. The first valve body (7) is prestressed in the direction toward the interior of the container and is supported in this direction on a first sealing seat (13) located on the cap inner part (4) and on a second sealing seat (14) located on the second valve body (8), said second sealing seat lying inside the first sealing seat (13) in a radial manner.

  • Patent number: 6349842
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rotatable cover which can be screwed or plugged on and is to be fastened on a stationary connection of a motor vehicle radiator or compensator reservoir of cooling and heating systems. The cover has a screw or plug cap and/or swivel cap and a rotatable engagement part in which a valve in the form of a combined overpressure/underpressure unit is arranged concentrically. The valve has a sealing member which produces a sealing connection with the stationary connection when the cover is applied. When the cover is positioned on the stationary connection, it is possible to prevent by means of a temperature-related control member removal, such as unscrewing or twisting of the cover. The temperature-related control member or a coupling part actuated by means of the temperature-related control member can be moved substantially radially between a coupling position and a release position.

  • Patent number: 6073791
Abstract: The invention concerns a preferably screwable or attachable and twistable closure cap for attaching to a fixed spout, for example of a car radiator, a compensating reservoir in cooling or heating systems or the like, with a screw cap or an attachable and twisting cap and a twistable contact part within which preferably an excess/low-pressure combination valve is concentrically mounted on the cap. The valve has a sealing element which comes into tight contact with the fixed part when the closure cap is fastened. The closure cap, when screwed onto the fixed spout, is prevented from being removed or unscrewed or untwisted by means of a temperature-dependent control element in which the temperature-dependent control element (12) creates a coupling of the cap (2) and the contact part (4) when the temperature is normal and a decoupling when the temperature rises.

  • Patent number: 4511056
Abstract: A closure assembly particularly useful as a radiator cap for the radiator filler tube of a motor vehicle including bayonet connectors for removably fastening the assembly to a filler tube is formed with a vacuum valve and an excess pressure or relief valve formed on an inner cap assembly of the closure assembly, with the inner cap assembly being formed with a pair of telescopically slidable parts and with a compression spring which is preferably constructed as a cup spring in order to press one of the telescopic parts relative to the other to effect sealing engagement with the seat of the filler tube, the force of the cup spring being greater than the closing force of a load spring which is provided for the excess pressure or relief valve.

  • Patent number: 4436219
Abstract: In order to place a sealing cap, which is to be placed in particular on a filler neck of a gasoline tank, on the neck so as to preserve the seal with little actuation force but so that it seals securely, the sealing cap is equipped with a turning lifting apparatus (24, 43) which effects a pressing of the sealing ring (4) at the free neck end (5) when the turning stop (26) of the sealing cap encounters the counter stop (27) of the filler neck (1). A pressing member (23) is displaced in the axial direction against the resistence of a compression spring (25) in the turning stop (26) via the turning lifting apparatus and simultaneously moves a radial outer collar which is coupled with the turning handle (2) in the displacement direction and which is contacted by the sealing ring (4) against the free neck end (5), whereby the sealing ring is pressed together. By means of an indicator window (54) one can read off the fully closed position of the sealing cap with certainty.

  • Patent number: 4379470
Abstract: In the housing of a closing cap 2, a valve seat plate 3 is held in place by means of a resilient ring 8 forming at the same time a seal relative to the tank connection to which the closing cap is screwed by its internal thread 1. The valve seat plate 3 supports a sub-pressure valve 4 and an excess-pressure valve 5. Aside from its seal ring 13, the closing member 4 of the sub-pressure valve is made in one piece. The excess-pressure valve 5 comprises a loose valve disc 28 cooperating with a valve seat 27 of the valve seat plate 3. The closing spring 30 is non-rotatably secured to the valve disc 28 and bears by its other open end against a stop 37 so that, by turning the valve disc, the spring pressure is increased or reduced. For this purpose, the valve disc is actuated by a tool introduced through the outlet aperture 21.
