  • Patent number: 4894885
Abstract: The invention relates to a killing device for poultry with a cutting slot moving with and aligned transversely to the transporting direction of the sideways conveyed animals (12), a head aligning means (62) located below the catching slot and a holding means (58) acting on the neck. This results in an always reliable severing of the carotids resulting in a reliable bleeding out of the poultry animal.

  • Patent number: 4723340
Abstract: A drawing machine of the carousel type for poultry, especially turkeys, has a working zone of 180.degree., a hoop-shaped drawing rod, and at least one hoop-shaped support for the bird. The drawing rod and support are detachably mounted and are also spring-loaded so that they are inherently adaptable to a limited extent to birds of slighly different size. They can also be exchanged for other drawing rods and supports to cope with birds of substantially different sizes, thereby to permit evisceration of poultry of a range of sizes easily and efficiently without damage to the meat.

  • Patent number: 4557016
Abstract: Apparatus of the carousel type, which is disposed at a turning point of a conveyor belt, comprising a stationary central part which includes a vertically placed drum round which a frame has been suspended so as to be concentrically rotatable, the said frame carrying a number of vertically displaceable rod-shaped members which communicate with means for the supply of spraying water and each of which is also provided with spraying means for squirting the water supplied into the interior of the carcass and with at least one dilator for keeping the neck aperture of the carcass being treated sufficiently wide open to ensure proper flushing of the spray water.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 21, 1983
Date of Patent: December 10, 1985

  • Patent number: 4506410
Abstract: In an apparatus for the introduction of poultry giblets into the evacuated body cavities of poultry, a plurality of cups which contain the giblets are moved into an insertion region together with the poultry, which is also moved, on a path while a plunger thrusts the giblets into the body cavity of the poultry after a cup has been introduced with its narrower end into the body cavity. The plunger is selectively driven, so that in the event that no poultry is present, the plunger is not actuated. In addition stabilizing devices are provided for the poultry.
