  • Patent number: 6022167
Abstract: A closure system for securing a plastic component to a support structure. The support structure is a substantially flat plate, especially a metal plate (11), having an opening (23) to accept the plastic component (10). The plastic component has at least one contact surface (12) to contact the support structure. There are also securing elements (14, 15) which are directed towards the contact surfaces and secure the plastic component (10) to the support structure after its introduction into the opening (23).

  • Patent number: 5947072
Abstract: The invention concerns an air inlet device for an internal combustion engine. The inlet device in question is provided with an at least partially variable through-aperture by which the inlet behavior is matched to the operating condition of the engine. To achieve an optimal reduction in noise emission depending on the operating conditions of the engine, the inlet device (1) includes at least one inner tube (3) and one outer tube (4). The inlet air stream is drawn irrespective of prevailing operating conditions through the inner tube (3) and a further air stream is drawn through an additional through-aperture whose size can be varied, between the inner tube (3) and outer tube (4). The additional through-aperture is provided with a resilient sealing lip (7, 13).

  • Patent number: 5915366
Abstract: A device is disclosed for regulating the intake air temperature in an internal combustion engine. It comprises a cold air duct, a warm air duct and a mixed air duct, the mixed air duct, also called primary air duct, is provided with a control flap, which in one final position closes off the cold air duct and in the other final position closes off the warm air duct and can pivot under the action of a wax-type thermostat around which the cold intake air flows. The wax-type thermostat is provided with a tie rod connecting it to the control flap. A restoring spring is located on the tie rod. In addition, an excess travel spring is provided to compensate for the excess travel of the wax-type thermostat. The control flap has longitudinal guiding means designed to take up the excess travel, the excess travel spring being mounted on longitudinal guiding means.

  • Patent number: 5501723
Abstract: An activated carbon filter is provided for venting a fuel tank. The activated carbon filter consists of a housing which accommodates activated carbon packets. Via lines, the housing is connected, on the one hand, by way of a first connection with the fuel tank, and on the other hand, by way of a second connection with the intake pipe, particularly that of a combustion engine. A third connection connects the housing with the atmosphere. The housing has a first partition which extends between the connection for the atmosphere and the connection for the tank. At least one other partition is provided which forms at least one other chamber. Each of the chambers is filled with activated carbon.

  • Patent number: 5472379
Abstract: An air filter includes a housing having an air inlet and an air outlet. A filter element is insertable into the housing. The filter element includes a filter medium folded in an accordion-like manner, as well as a surrounding seal for sealing off a pure-air area. The air inlet of the housing has the same cross-section as that of the filter element. Holders are arranged on the housing via film hinges. The holders operate to fix the filter element in an installed position in the housing.

  • Patent number: 5421307
Abstract: An arrangement for controlling the temperature of the intake air of internal-combustion engines has an intake air filter in which a swivellable control valve is provided that interacts with a pneumatic actuator. The actuator causes an adjustment of the control valve by a bimetallic control device, as a function of the air temperature fed to the internal-combustion engine. A thermostat is provided which, by way of a movable stop, determines the swivel range of the control valve in the direction that closes off the warm-air duct. The thermostat is arranged in a receiving device. This receiving device is fastened in a cold-air duct by a welded connection.

  • Patent number: 5400753
Abstract: An air filter for an internal combustion engine which has a filter insert is arranged in a housing having a clean air outlet and an unfiltered air inlet provided with a screen. An auxiliary unfiltered air inlet is also provided which is closed by a flap under normal operating conditions but which opens under the influence of a negative pressure generated in the filter housing if the screen becomes clogged because of snow or ice entrained in the air stream, so that air can enter the filter through the auxiliary air inlet.
