  • Patent number: 5034079
Abstract: A method and apparatus for vulcanizing pneumatic vehicle tires having heads that in the mounted state are disposed on the radially inner periphery of a rim. In order for such tires to achieve a satisfactorily contoured vulcanization, and in order at the same time to produce sealing surfaces with great precision, the tire is vulcanized with its beads in their operating position. During the vulcanization, the radially outwardly disposed surfaces of the tire beads are shaped with the aid of rigid, one-piece, shaped molding rings.

  • Patent number: 4865532
Abstract: An apparatus for vulcanizing pneumatic vehicle tires where the tire beads, in the mounted state, are disposed on the radially inner periphery of a rim next to the essentially radially inwardly extending rim flanges. In order to obtain tires having a long service life and tire beads with a good sealing quality, it is proposed that the tire be vulcanized in essentially the proper contour for operation. Two, respectively radially segmented, bead-forming rings that have a variable diameter and can be displaced axially are provided. For the purpose of vulcanizing the sealing surfaces disposed in the interior of the tire so that these surfaces will rest on the rim in an airtight manner, the bead-forming rings are introduced, in a radially retracted state, into the interior of the tire blank, whereby at least one of the tire beads is ovally deformed.

  • Patent number: 4790892
Abstract: A method of producing a pneumatic vehicle tire, the beads of which can be mounted on the radially inner periphery of a rim, and are pivotably relative to the bead cores. A carcass along with the adjacent rubber layers, and the tire beads, with their pull and compression resistant cores, are combined on a drum to form an essentially cylindrical blank. What will later be the insides of the tire initially face radially outwardly, and the interfaces of the initially radially outwardly extending beads form an essentially right angle with the cylindrical surface of the blank. At least the bead regions of the tire blank are preliminarily vulcanized, whereupon the blank is turned in and has imparted thereto a toroidal shape. The blank is then provided with a tread strip, and is final-vulcanized.

  • Patent number: 4732198
Abstract: A vehicle wheel has a pneumatic tire mounted thereon. The wheel has a rigid rim having essentially radially inwardly extending rim flanges and, on the radially inner side of the rim ring, the rim has respective mounting spaces, each with a deep mounting bed. The pneumatic tire is provided with tire beads having a cross-sectional form which, on the one hand, permits the tire bead to extend into the mounting space and deep bed during mounting, in which, on the other hand, closes-off the mounting space and deep bed when the tire is in its operational state. In order to disconnect the tire seat from the rim support surfaces, it is proposed that the deep mounting bed extend directly to the rim flange, and that, in the operational state of the tire, on the one hand the tire bead be spaced from that portion of the rim ring that is adjacent to the rim flange, and on the other hand a portion of the tire bead butt axially inwardly against a portion of the rim.

  • Patent number: 4696333
Abstract: A rim for a pneumatic vehicle tire, the beads of which are adapted to be mounted on the radially inner periphery of the rim. The rim has a rim ring that is provided radially inwardly with seating surfaces for the tire beads. On the lateral edges, the rim ring has essentially radially inwardly extending rim flanges. Furthermore, the rim ring is provided radially outwardly with support surfaces for emergency operation when a puncture, flat tire, etc. is encountered. In order to increase the ability to operate with a flat tire, the wall of the rim ring, in the vicinity of each of the rim flanges, is bent radially outwardly, and is then bent back axially inwardly at a radial spacing relative to the remainder of the rim ring, so that two annular supports are formed for supporting a flat tire.

  • Patent number: 4516617
Abstract: A method of mounting a tire on a rim. Contemplated are vehicle wheels having rims where the seats for the tire beads are disposed along the inner periphery of the rim respectively next to a radially inwardly extending rim flange. The rims also have circumferential recessed portions which are disposed next to the seats and which have a base with a diameter which is greater than the diameter of the seats. The following method steps are involved. The rim and the tire are moved toward one another, with their axes of rotation being disposed at an angle to one another. The rim is introduced into the tire, at least one bead portion of which has assumed an oval shape. The rim is rotated. A portion of one of the beads, the seat of which extends parallel to the rim seat, is intorduced into the recessed portion of the rim. Subsequently, the rest of that bead is inserted. After the same procedure is repeated for the other bead, the tire is inflated with air, so that the beads are brought onto the rim seats.
