  • Patent number: 4629757
Abstract: Cationic latices produced by changing anionic latices using a cationic emulsifier exhibit good results when used for the improvement of cationic bitumen emulsions for surface treatment during road building, if an amphoteric emulsifier is added before addition of the cationic emulsifier.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 4, 1984
Date of Patent: December 16, 1986
    Assignee: Bayer Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Heinz Esser, Horst Krechlok
  • Patent number: 4510180
Abstract: Coating of geological formations as well as air- and fire barriers is performed by providing aqueous rubber or rubber-like dispersions and spraying the dispersions via separate conduits simultaneously with a dry hydraulic binding medium, by a pressure air onto an object to be coated. An inert filling material can be added to the hydraulic binding medium, and a tenside can be added to the dispersions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 14, 1983
Date of Patent: April 9, 1985
    Assignee: Bergwerksverband GmbH
Inventors: Wolfgang Cornely, Heinz Esser, Rudolf Schmidt
  • Patent number: 4417036
Abstract: High-solids polychloroprene latices are obtained by polymerizing chloroprene, which may contain up to 50%, by weight, of a copolymerizable monomer, in aqueous alkaline emulsion containing emulsifiers and other conventional auxiliaries in the presence of from 0.1 to 2%, by weight, of a primary or secondary hydroxyalkylamine in which the OH-group is separated from the amino nitrogen atom by at least two carbon atoms, polymerization being carried out to a conversion of more than 80%.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 8, 1982
Date of Patent: November 22, 1983
    Assignee: Bayer Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Wilfried Nolte, Heinz Esser
  • Patent number: 4340518
Abstract: Process for producing a cationic polychloroprene latex by homo- or copolymerizing chloroprene in an aqueous emulsion in the presence of ammonium salts of inorganic or organic acids as emulsifiers wherein the polymerization is carried out in presence of an alkaline earth and/or alkali salt of an organic carboxylic acid or in presence of a mixture of Na.sub.2 HPO.sub.4 and KH.sub.2 PO.sub.4. The latex thus obtained may be mixed with a bitumen emulsion and can be used for the protection of building or in road construction.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 18, 1981
Date of Patent: July 20, 1982
    Assignee: Bayer Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Wilfried Nolte, Heinz Esser
  • Patent number: 4338238
Abstract: A process for polymerizing chloroprene which may contain as much as 50% by weight of a copolymerizable monomer, in an alkaline aqueous emulsion, of which the alkali ions at least partially consist of potassium, into a latex rich in solid matter having a solid content of from 50 to 65% by weight in the presence of an alkali salt of disproportionated abietic acid and a formaldehyde condensate with naphthalene sulphonic acid and also an alkali hydroxide, whereby polymerization is carried out until there is a conversion of more than 90% characterized in that(a) the aqueous phase contains from 2.8 to 3.8 parts by weight of an alkali salt of disproportionated abietic acid, from 0.3 to 2.0 parts by weight of a formaldehyde condensate of a naphthalene sulphonic acid and from 0.25 to 0.75 parts by weight of an alkali phosphate and/or polyphosphate, based on 100 parts by weight of monomer, and(b) polymerization is initiated using formamidine sulphinic acid.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 6, 1982
    Assignee: Bayer Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Wilfried Nolte, Wilfried Keller, Heinz Esser
  • Patent number: 4223095
Abstract: A flame-resistant polyurethane foam is obtained by treatment of the foam with a mixture of aluminium hydroxide and a carboxyl group-containing polychloroprene latex and cross-linking the latex with zinc oxide or magnesium oxide.
