  • Patent number: 5727374
Abstract: A twisting spindle, such as a two-for-one twisting spindle, has a spindle rotor and a spool carrier with a hollow hub mounted on the spindle rotor. A yarn brake positioned within the hollow hub has a brake cartridge positioned vertically in the cylindrical housing. It includes two brake rings positioned at opposite ends of the brake cartridge. A first brake ring is axially displaceable for adjusting a braking force. The yarn brake includes an adjusting sleeve axially displaceable and rotationally fixed in the cylindrical housing. The lower end of the adjusting sleeve has a threaded portion extending axially into the area beneath the spool carrier. A transmission member including a radial actuating arm threaded onto the threaded portion of the adjusting sleeve so as to be rotatable but axially fixed. The actuating arm has a first permanent magnet located at a radially outer end of the actuating arm and positioned within an area delimited by the yarn balloon closely adjacent thereto.

  • Patent number: 5581988
Abstract: A yarn brake has a tubular brake housing with an upper and a lower end. A lower brake ring is connected to the lower end of the brake housing. A brake ring carrier is positioned in the housing at a distance above the lower brake ring and has a central axis about which it is rotatable. The brake ring carrier is axially slidable within the brake housing. A spring is positioned in the brake housing between the upper end and the brake ring carrier for biasing the brake ring carrier in a downward direction. An upper brake ring is connected to the brake ring carrier so as to face the lower brake ring. A brake cartridge rests between the upper and the lower brake rings. An abutment is connected to the brake housing and extends radially into the brake housing. The brake ring carrier has a plurality of support shoulders distributed over the periphery of the brake ring whereby these support shoulders are axially spaced relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 5347805
Abstract: A two-for-one twisting spindle with a compressed air operated threading device is provided. The thread is feed via a jet of compressed air through a thread feeding channel of a thread storage disk. At the outer opening of the thread feeding channel a first deflecting surface is provided which is attached to the underside of the turntable. The first deflecting surface is provided with a upwardly curved second deflecting surface which is essentially convex. These constructive measures at the outer opening of the thread feeding channel ensure that the jet of compressed air exiting from the outer opening of the thread feeding channel has a certain vertical width h and that the radius of curvature R of the second deflecting surface is such that the ratio of the radius of curvature to the width h corresponds to R/h.gtoreq.3. This ensures that the jet of compressed air is deflected in an upward direction essentially vertically with the aid of the so-called Coanda effect.

  • Patent number: 5211000
Abstract: A textile yarn processing machine, particularly a two-for-one twister, having a plurality of yarn processing stations positioned in side-by-side relationship in at least one row extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine and each station including a spindle assembly containing one or more supply packages of yarn wound on bobbins to be processed in such station and a take-up mechanism for winding yarn processed in such station on to bobbins to form take-up packages is provided with first and second conveying mechanisms for respectively receiving doffed take-up packages of processed yarn and empty yarn supply package bobbins at each yarn processing station and conveying same to one end of the machine for removal from the machine.

  • Patent number: 5207052
Abstract: A method for transporting a set or stack of yarn packages comprising at least yarn packages to a twisting machine as well as an apparatus for carrying out said method. The yarn ends of the packages are arranged in the interior of the hollow center of the package before the transportation. The yarn packages are creeled on a common, tubular adapter, which is provided on its upper end with a gripping head for engagement with a gripper and/or the transport element of a conveying system. Then the yarn ends F1 and F2 are arranged in the interior of the adapter and held therein during the entire transportation until the set of yarn packages is inserted into a spindle of the twisting machine. Once the set of yarn packages is inserted into the spindle, a yarn unwinding head permitting the entry of the yarns is added, and the yarn ends are guided through this unwinding head into the spindle.

  • Patent number: 5062261
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transporting a wound hollow yarn package having a loose yarn end from a yarn processing machine and, preferably, between yarn processing machines, while maintaining the loose yarn end in defined and fixed positions. The yarn package is gripped in the yarn processing machine by inserting a hollow gripper device into one end of the hollow yarn package and the loose yarn end is pneumatically positioned in the hollow gripper device. The yarn package is removed from the yarn processing machine and placed on a hollow pin of a transporting mechanism by the gripper device and the loose yarn end is pneumatically removed from the gripper device and positioned in the hollow pin of the transporting mechanism. The gripper device is then removed and the yarn package is transported, preferably to a second yarn processing machine.

  • Patent number: 4979360
Abstract: A transport and handling system for multi-position textile machines, in particular twisting machines, comprising a first track system, the path of which extends along the longitudinal sides of the machines, and which accommodates at least one automated handling device to perform servicing operations, and further comprising a second track systems, the path of which extends likewise along the longitudinal sides of the machines, and along which transport devices travel, which are adapted to be combined to trains and to receive working materials and/or working means. The paths of the two track systems extend parallel to each other over at least a portion such that the automated handling device is adapted to both engage with the transport devices and move past same.

  • Patent number: 4453377
Abstract: A two-for-one twisting spindle has a compressed-air-actuating device which is disposed in the region of the hollow axle (21) of the spindle (1) above the spindle rotor, and which influences the run of the yarn and to which a compressed-air passage (29), extending through a stationary part (7) of the spindle, leads, in order to prevent the yarn from being drawn through the hollow axle of the spindle in the event of breakage of the yarn. The compressed-air-actuated device is a compressed-air-cylinder (27) whose axis intersects the hollow axle of the spindle at right angles thereto and whose outer wall has two openings (25) which are located diametrically opposite one another and which are in alignment with the hollow axle of the spindle, and a piston (26) which is displaceable within the compressed-air cylinder and whose rear end is subjectable to compressed air for the purpose of clamping (FIG. 1), or cutting (FIG. 5) through the yarn.
