Abstract: Described herein is a drive unit for a machining center of modular construction comprising different work modules with tools which are positively controlled with respect to time, e.g. bending tools, front-feed devices, welding stations, assembly units or the like. The drive unit is constructed as a press which comprises the main drive for the machining center. The drive of adjacent work modules is effected via meshing toothed wheels which bridge the interface planes between the work modules, so that the drive unit can be integrated into the machining center in a space-saving and economical manner.

Abstract: A stamping and bending tool assembly is described for automatically making bent parts of wire or strip or like raw materials. The tool assembly comprises a plurality of bending carriages which are grouped around a circular tool carrier table with central work station and secured to the housing frame and are controlled by respective cams driven by a respective drive pinion engaged in a central ring gear. The central work station is preceded by at least one cutting tool working in timed sequence with the bending carriages and possibly by at least one take-in apparatus for raw material.

Abstract: A feed apparatus for feeding material to a metalworking machine comprises two alternately operating gripping units; the first unit comprising a reciprocating transport gripper element which moves the material forward by steps; the second unit comprises a stationary non-return gripper element which retains the material during the return stroke of the transport gripper element. At least one of the elements can be operated in opposition to spring force by means of a pressure medium which can be displaced by a displacing means acting as an operating mechanism. At least one of the gripper elements is connected to a displacing means by a closed container which stores the pressure medium, the container having extensible wall sections to which the gripper element and the displacing means is connected.

Abstract: A welding machine for the continuous welding of spot contacts on a support material is provided wherein the contact material in the form of wire, tape or sectional shape is supplied to a cutting tip, along a path parallel to the welding electrode, and is sheared off by a cutter movable at a right angle to the welding electrode, so that the contact "pill" is pushed into the gap formed between the welding electrode and the support material.
