Patent number: 4469509Abstract: In the operation of the rotary kiln provided at its charging end with a central burner, solid reducing agents having a high content of volatile constituents are used and the charge and the gas atmosphere are conducted in cocurrent streams. To avoid a high heat load per unit of volume in the heating-up zone and yet to increase the heating-up rate, a solid carbonaceous reducing agent having a high content of volatile constituents is charged together with the iron oxide-containing material into the charging end of the rotary kiln, oxygen-containing gases are blown through nozzle blocks into the free gas space and into the charge in the heating-up zone, and oxygen-containing gases are blown through nozzle blocks into the free kiln space in the reducing zone.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1982Date of Patent: September 4, 1984Assignee: Metallgesellschaft AktiengesellschaftInventors: Karl-Heinz Fischer, Wolfram Schnabel, Harry Serbent

Patent number: 4459357Abstract: A procedure and an apparatus for the quantitative determination of cations and anions by ion chromatography is described which can be used, for example, to test drinking water, river water or water in drains. The sample is injected into a buffer stream which comes through a chromatography column. The eluate from the column is measured in a conductivity detector, the background being suppressed in a new cell. The cell consists of two ion exchange membranes which are not permeable to the ions to be measured and two electrodes which set up an electric field across the membranes. The highly dissociated ions of opposite charge in the eluate are exchanged into compounds of low conductivity and removed from the cell.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1982Date of Patent: July 10, 1984Inventors: Karl-Heinz Jansen, Karl-Heinz Fischer, Bernhard Wolf

Patent number: 4243106Abstract: A device for varying the angular setting of the blade of an earthmoving vehicle by means of a pair of double acting hydraulic cylinders in which only one of the cylinders receives pressure direct from a pump. The piston of that cylinder acts on one end of the blade and at the same time transmits pressure fluid through a hydraulic circuit to the piston of the other cylinder acting on the other end of the blade whereby the two pistons move in opposite directions. The hydraulic circuit includes a control valve for reversing the direction of movement of the pistons, the same cylinder being pressurized by the pump in both directions of movement of the pistons. Pressure fluid leakage loss compensating means are provided in each piston.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1979Date of Patent: January 6, 1981Assignee: Massey-Ferguson Services N.V.Inventors: Otto Skubich, Rudolf Perkert, Karl Heinz Fischer

Patent number: 4217063Abstract: A center support member for a tiltable swivelling grading blade on an earthmoving machine which prevents the occurence of internal stresses in the blade generated by tilting of the blade is in the form of a ball and socket joint attached to the center rear of the blade and to a carrier frame on the machine. A shaft slidable in a sleeved mounting carries the ball portion of the joint at one end and the other end of the shaft is spring urged towards the blade by spring means in the sleeved mounting. Stop means in the sleeved mounting limit the stroke of the shaft. Patent number: 4149467Abstract: An adjustable time fuse includes an electrolytic cell with the anode and cathode connectible in two circuits with opposite polarity and a battery connected in the circuits. One of the circuits causes an element of the electrolyte to be deposited on one of the electrodes to activate the cell and the other causes the same element to be removed from the electrode. When this element is completely removed, the internal resistance of the cell increases rapidly. This increase in resistance triggers a thyristor to allow a condenser to discharge through a primer to produce the desired action.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1972Date of Patent: April 17, 1979Assignee: Dynamit Nobel AktiengesellschaftInventors: Klaus-Heinz Fischer, Hans-Joachim Eickmann
