Abstract: For the production of (cigarette) packs of different configurations, for example standard pack (13), round-edged pack (14) or octagonal pack (15), subassemblies and elements of the packaging machine are exchanged and/or uncoupled from the drive. For this purpose, a pack-specific operating element is provided with a drive which has a coupling and/or uncouplable gear-mechanism parts. These, in turn, are assigned operable handling elements which allow adjustment for coupling or uncoupling or removing sub-elements.

Abstract: For producing hard packs, namely hinge-lid boxes or shell and slide packs in particular, inner and outer pack units are prepared separately in each case, namely a shell (20), on the one hand, and a blank for a hinge-lid box, on the other hand. The inner pack unit, comprising a cigarette block (10) and a further pack part, namely a slide (13) or a collar, is prepared in the region of a mandrel turret (24). The pack units are then brought together, with continued rotary movement, by axial displacement relative to one another.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for erecting (flat) blanks (12) for cartons, collapsible boxes, trays (11) or the like. Said blanks (12) are moved before an aperture (16) of a forming shaft (17) and introduced therein with a forming punch (20, 22), which in particular can be raised and lowered, with parts of the blank (12) being erected, in particular those in the region of side walls (15) and longitudinal walls and/or transverse walls of the carton or the like. According to the invention, after a blank (12) has been pushed into the forming shaft (17), the forming punch (20, 22) is moved at least partially outside of the forming shaft (17) to a position in front of the aperture (16) of the forming shaft (17). It is preferably provided that the forming shaft (17) is assigned at least two forming punches (20, 22), which are moved respectively in succession to press a (separate) blank (12) into the forming shaft (17). The forming punches (20, 22) are pivoted out of the forming shaft (17).

Abstract: A hinge-lid pack for cigarettes or other items usually consists of a box part and lid. In the closed position, the pack exhibits upright pack edges, namely longitudinal edges (29, 30) and transverse edges (31, 32, 33, 34). The longitudinal edges (29, 30) or transverse edges (31 . . . 34) are configured as a projection (35) or recess (40) having a round cross-section.

Abstract: Multipack for a group of cigarette packs (10) that are arranged in two rows and are enclosed by a multipack blank (11) made of thin cardboard. The multipack blank (11) is designed and folded such that a top side (12) is free and it is possible to see the cigarette packs (10) positioned therein. The pack unit is enclosed by an outer wrapper (22) made of transparent or see-through film with a tear-open strip (23).

Abstract: The hinge-lid pack comprising box part (11) and lid (12) features a polygon-like configuration in the region of its side walls (22, 23), namely having angular wall legs (28, 29) and a narrow, transverse side wall (22, 23). The cross-sectional shape of the hinge-lid pack thus conforms to the contour of a cigarette group as the pack's contents, with the cigarette group having at its edges adjacent to the side walls (22, 23) a marginal transverse row of 2 cigarettes and adjacent thereto a transverse row of 3 cigarettes.

Abstract: In order to produce (cigarette) packs with an insert blank (25) applied within the pack or to the outside of the latter, this insert blank is fixed temporarily by virtue of the pack or pack contents being electrostatically charged in the region of the insert blank (25). The pack is completed while the static charge is active, with the result that, by way of pack blanks, the insert coupon (25) is fixed in the envisaged position by the pack itself.

Abstract: During the production of filter cigarettes (10), these are subjected to testing with the aid of test air. For this purpose, air is introduced into the filter cigarette (10) at one end. The air emerging at the opposite end is measured. The filter cigarette (10) is subdivided into testing sections or testing chambers (22, 23) for the purpose of more accurate testing and in order to derive more accurate information, in particular for testing a tobacco stick (11), on the one hand, and a filter (12), on the other hand. The testing chambers (22, 23), which are sealed off from one another, are connected to separate sensors.

Abstract: A method is specified of operating a device for controlling and/or monitoring a production and/or packaging installation on a bus (33), the controller (30) comprising an interface (34) to be connected to the bus (33), a main memory (36) for the storage of a control program (31) and also means for executing the control program (31). Configuration data (40) are stored in a removable memory module (39). When the controller (30) is restarted, the configuration data (40) are read out and, by using the configuration data (40), an access is made to a remote memory (32) which can be reached via the bus (33) and which comprises a transfer to the controller (30) of data stored in the remote memory (32).

Abstract: For the production of cigarette groups (11) having a formation comprising a plurality of vertical rows of cigarettes (10) arranged one beside the other, after pushing a corresponding number of cigarettes (10) out of shafts (13) of a cigarette magazine (12), a transverse displacement of the cigarettes (10) is required in order to arrange same in a tightly packed or saddle configuration. At least marginal push rods (18) for pushing the cigarettes (10) out of the shafts (13) of the cigarette magazine (12) can be displaced transversely together with the cigarettes.

Abstract: A distributor or hopper is part of a cigarette production machine and serves for dressing the tobacco in the provision of a continuous tobacco strand. An integral part of a distributor is a metering system which prepares the tobacco for the production of the tobacco strand. To separate out undesirable constituents, such as foreign bodies, stalks or ribs, from the tobacco, at least one sifter (15) is provided. The latter precedes the metering system of the distributor in the working direction, in particular is arranged outside the distributor, so that sifted tobacco is introduced into the distributor.

Abstract: A cuboidal cigarette pack with a large-surface-area pack side, namely rear side (13), is provided with a blank (23), which serves as a printing carrier, in the region of this rear side (13). Said blank is positioned between an outer wrapper (19) made of film and the pack (10). A top region of the blank (23) is connected to a detachable top part of the outer wrapper, namely a film cap (22), and is also removed when the pack (10) is opened for the first time.

Abstract: In order to check a material web (12), in particular a film web, with regard to the correct arrangement of a tear-off strip (11) extending in the longitudinal direction of the material web (12), ultrasonic transmitters are used, specifically an ultrasonic transmitter (11) on the one hand and an ultrasonic receiver (19) on the other hand. The sensors are arranged on opposite sides of the material web (12) in such a way that, if appropriate, focused ultrasonic waves are aimed specifically at the region of the tear-off strip (11). If a tear-off strip (11) is missing, an appropriate signal is generated by the ultrasonic receiver (19).

Abstract: A cigarette pack with a shell (10) and slide (11), the range of movement of the slide (11 ) within the shell (10) is limited, in particular by stops formed, on the one hand, on a stop tab (30) and, on the other hand, by a recess (34) in the shell (10). The latter has a tear-open thread (24) which extends obliquely or diagonally in the region of a front wall (14) and rear wall (15) and merges into side walls (16, 17) via arcuate regions. This allows optimum opening and removal of the outer wrapper with the aid of the tear-open thread (24).

Abstract: Employed in the manufacture of (cigarette) packs of the hinge-lid type, preferably as a multipack, is a blank comprising a main package blank (17) and a collar (15) connected thereto as a single piece. A resulting complete blank is processed according to the transverse enveloping principle. The collar (15) is connected to the package blank (17) by means of a marginal folding line (41) in the region of an outer box side tab (18).

Abstract: In the production of (cigarette) packs of the hinge-lid-box type with round edges, preliminary deformation of blanks (10) is desirable for producing hinge-lid boxes of satisfactory quality. The preliminary deformation of the round edges takes place in the region of a rounding turret (18) during transportation of the blanks (10). The latter are deformed back into an essentially planar starting position upon leaving the rounding turret (18) and thereafter.

Abstract: The invention relates to a cigarette pack of the hinge-lid type comprising an opening (36) configured in the lower section of the front face, namely in a front wall (12) of the pack. A marking (38), applied to the inner wrapper for identifying the product, is visible through said opening.
