  • Patent number: 6032602
Abstract: A device for guiding the flow of floating objects. The device is connected to a hull of the floating object and, depending on the flow, feeds hydrodynamic forces into the hull. The device shows a main flow body which is designed in a more flat-topped manner in the area of a leading head than in the area of a trailing end. In the flow direction, a secondary body is placed behind the trailing end, which secondary body shows a rounded cross-sectional contour. The secondary body is equipped with a flow-through recess. Furthermore, the secondary body is, regarding an axis of revolution that runs at an angle to the flow direction, guided in an adjustable manner.

  • Patent number: 5419724
Abstract: A stern tube bearing system for contra-rotating ship's propellers with concentric shafts is configured such that the oil feed to the bearing for the inner shaft is configured so that essentially only the oil ducts located in the lower portion of the rotational path of the bearing are in communication with the oil supply to essentially supply a substantial portion of the oil flow to the lower, load bearing surfaces of the bearing.

  • Patent number: 5365870
Abstract: On a body, for example a stabilizer fin or a rudder blade on ships or the keel fin on sailboats with a keel, which is fastened to a support body, preferably a ship's hull, so that it projects outward, several ribs are fastened so that they project on the exposed end of the body. These ribs are located at some distance from one another and are parallel to the plane of symmetry of the body. The length of the ribs is approximately 1/10 to 1/20 of the length of the body, which eliminates or reduces turbulence which occurs at the end of the wing like structure.

  • Patent number: 4919064
Abstract: In a hydraulic system for roll stabilization of a vessel by motions of the rudder an arrangement for supplying a hydraulic fluid to the rudder engine comprises a constant delivery pump, a pressure accumulator, and a valve gear unit. While the valve is opened the hydraulic fluid is delivered by the pump and the accumulator, and when the valve is closed the pump fills up the accumulator to maximum working pressure. The valve gear unit comprises a proportional control valve for controlling period, direction and flow rate of the hydraulic fluid to the steering engine and a load compensation device for controlling the returning flow returning via the proportional control valve for compensating for irregular loads from the waves or the sea against the rudder.
