  • Patent number: 6216492
Abstract: A preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a vitreous quartz pipe or container having a connector including a flange formed from at least one strip or rod-shaped piece of transparent quartz glass which is wound circumferentially around either an inner or outer surface of a portion of the pipe or container and secured to the pipe or container to thereby form a closed-ring flange. The portion of the pipe or container having the attached flange may be an open end of the pipe or container or may be a wall portion where a connector for mounting to fixtures or other fittings may be desired. This type of strip or rod-shaped piece of quartz glass can be made via a conventional pulling technique such that a strip or rod having the appropriate uniform cross-sectional shape is obtained. The prepared strips or rod-shaped pieces are then easily cut with a saw device to appropriate lengths.

  • Patent number: 5797079
Abstract: A printer for selectively printing on one or both sides of a web-shaped recording medium includes a paper turn-over apparatus in the paper conveying channel. The turn-over apparatus is a removable unit and can be changed from a turn-over operation for two sided printing to a parallel conveyance for one sided printing of two recording mediums. A conveyor that moves the recording medium through the printer has an adjustable width to adapt to different recording medium widths. The conveyor includes a return which returns the recording medium to the turn-over apparatus after being printed on one side. The return includes a traction roller pair and a lever to swivel one of the rollers in and out. A connecting channel leads from the traction rollers and includes guide baffles. Conveyor rollers are arranged along the connecting channel at less than the spacing of the folds in the folded recording medium.

  • Patent number: 4590113
Abstract: The invention relates to a fiber wool in band or pad form, e.g., in the form of steel wool, having a plate-like or band-like support, the fiber wool being able to be joined to the support in a simple manner by forcing portions (15) of the fiber wool (14) through perforations (13) in the support (11) and pressing them flat from the opposite side of the support (11).

  • Patent number: 4530818
Abstract: An epitaxy bell of transparent fused silica is provided with a flanged, thick-walled tubular piece of transparent fused silica on the side on which a process gas is exhausted. The wall thickness of the constricted portion of the bell is increased toward the transparent fused silica tubular piece.

  • Patent number: 4340627
Abstract: A method is described for the production of porous bodies from vitreous silica without the use of tools. Vitreous silica wool and/or threads are wound in layers on a form. After the coil has attained a certain minimum thickness, the threads of each succeeding layer are permanently bonded by heating the threads of the preceding layer at the points where the threads cross. The form is removed, and then the threads on the inside of the body are bonded together. The bodies are used for the production of high-purity blocks of silicon for solar cells.

  • Patent number: 4019645
Abstract: A crucible of pure transparent silica glass or pure translucent or opaque silica glass for the production of monocrystals used in making semiconductor elements which includes a hollow cylindrical part and a welded-on head. The head end of the hollow cylindrical part is formed from a tube with a head margin portion constricted towards the tube axis which is formed by shaping one end of the tube. A plate is welded into the aperture formed by the constricted head margin portion and has an area equal to at least one-tenth and at most four-fifths of the total head area made up by the head margin portion and the head.
