  • Patent number: 11141218
Abstract: A bipolar resectoscope (1) has a shaft (2, 2?) with an insulating insert (8) at its distal end (7). A working element (3) is mountable in the shaft (2, 2?) and a cutting electrode (4) is longitudinally displaceable in the shaft (2, 2?). The insulating insert (8) has an exposed conductive area of a neutral electrode (5, 5?). The area of the passive neutral electrode (5, 5?) exposed transverse to the longitudinal axis (34) forms an electrically conductive roof of the insulating insert (8, 8?). An inlet area (26) of the insulating insert (8, 8?) has an inner wall (38, 38?) with two opposing electrically conductive contact surfaces (39, 39?) of the neutral electrode (5, 5?) that are parallel to the longitudinal axis (33) and contact two parallel electrically conductive contact tubes (24) of a fork (26) and opening a cutting loop (25) of the cutting electrode (4).

  • Patent number: 10383681
Abstract: A probe applicator (1) is provided for positioning a bipolar electrosurgical probe (2) that has a bendable distal end (5) with a tip that forms a bipolar electrode head (9) connected to two electrical conductors (7, 8). The probe (2) is arranged in a casing (6), and both the probe (2) and the casing (6) are longitudinally displaceable in a rigid shaft tube (3). The distal probe end (5) is pre-tensioned into a curved shape when the shaft tube end (17) is retracted. However, the probe end (5) is tensioned into an extended position by the surrounding end (17) of the shaft tube (3) when the shaft tube (3) is advanced. The second electrical conductor (8) is a flexible wire cable.

  • Patent number: 6409728
Abstract: A rotatable bipolar forceps for clamping and coagulating tissue includes a body portion and an electrode which is selectively removable from the body portion. The forceps further includes at least one handle attached to the body portion for imparting movement to a shaft which causes the jaws to move from a first open position wherein the jaws are disposed in spaced relation relative to one another to a second clamping position wherein the jaws cooperate to grasp tissue therebetween. A rotating member rotates the electrode and the jaws relative to a longitudinal axis disposed through the body portion and releasably couples the electrode to the housing.

  • Patent number: 5716354
Abstract: A surgical endoscopic instrument has a stem portion and a handle portion and an operating insert axially extending through both of those portions. The insert carries at least one hf operating electrode which can project beyond the distal end of the stem portion. An insulated electrical conductor extends along the length of the operating insert to connect the electrode to a plug subassembly forming the proximal end of the operating insert. The plug subassembly is electrically connected to a removable jack with a connection cable leading to an hf energy source. The operating insert is rotatably supported inside the implement and the jack is non-rotatably coupled to the plug subassembly which is itself non-rotatably linked to the operating insert.

  • Patent number: 5688222
Abstract: An endoscopic instrument with an inner sheath carrying instrument optics and an outer sheath enclosing the inner sheath so as to form a gap between the sheaths, the outer sheath having apertures radially through its distal end zone to provide fluid communication between the gap and the surroundings of the outer sheath. The inner sheath acts as a supply duct and the gap between the inner and outer sheaths acts as an evacuation duct for the rinsing fluid. A hole connects the interior of the inner sheath to the gap at the distal end of the inner sheath, the clear cross-section of the hole being substantially less than the sum of the cross-sections of the apertures at the distal zone of the outer sheath.

  • Patent number: 4633860
Abstract: A device for preparing the insertion canal for inserting an endoscope for percutaneous nephroscopy includes a tubular member which can be guided on a guide wire inserted through the patient's skin and tissue into the renal calyx. The tubular member carries one or more scalpel blades at its distal end for creating incisions along the path of the wire which can then be expanded to provide a canal for the endoscope. Gripping, orientation and insertion depth indicating means are also disclosed.
