  • Patent number: 8162620
Abstract: A method for control of a pressurized air supply system for a motor vehicle. In a supply condition, the air compressor is driven by the drive motor and connected to a compressed air system of the motor vehicle such that compressed air is supplied to the compressed air system. In a non-supply condition, the compressor is not driven and/or connected to the compressed air system. The switching of the supply or non-supply condition results from a comparison of at least one switch pressure value with a pressure in the compressed air system and the topography of the stretch of road on which the vehicle is travelling, which includes the profile of the path which the vehicle must cover within a period of time and/or path distance to a given destination.

  • Publication number: 20080035440
Abstract: The invention relates to a braking device having a rotor and a stator; the rotor and the stator are arranged relative to each other in such a way and a working medium can be supplied or engaged in such a way that, during braking operation when working medium is supplied or engaged, braking torque is transmitted from the rotor to the stator. The braking device of the invention is characterized by the following features: a fan wheel is provided, which, by means of activation and deactivation of a coupling, can be switched into and out of a driven connection with the rotor; the fan wheel is designed and positioned in such a way that, in switched driven connection with the rotor, a flow of cool air is supplied to the braking device; the coupling is arranged and subjected to the working medium in such a way that supplying or engaging and carrying away or disengaging the working medium automatically activates and deactivates the coupling.

  • Publication number: 20070132308
Abstract: A hydrodynamic retarder having a toroidal working chamber formed from a rotor impeller and a stator impeller. The stator impeller has a stator housing with a substantially ring-shaped evacuation channel formed in the stator housing. The stator impeller has a plurality of boreholes, which join the toroidal working chamber to the evacuation channel.

  • Patent number: 7100370
Abstract: The invention involves a process for controlling the rotational speed of a drive motor during a start-up period, in a drive train, containing at least one starter element that can be coupled to the drive motor, in a rotationally fixed manner, in the form of a hydrodynamic coupling, containing a primary blade wheel and a secondary blade wheel, which form together at least one toroid-shaped working space. According to the invention, the rotational speed of the drive motor is set as a function of the power that can be consumed by the hydrodynamic coupling. The consumable power can be controlled or regulated.

  • Patent number: 6910330
Abstract: A method for controlling the power consumption of a starting element (1) in the form of a hydrodynamic clutch (2). The clutch comprises an impeller (4) and a turbine wheel (5), which together form at least one toroidal working chamber (6) that can be filled with an operating medium, and is located in a drive train (3) with at least one other drive motor that can be coupled to the hydrodynamic clutch. The method is characterized in that the power consumption can be freely adjusted as a function of the volumetric efficiency of the hydrodynamic clutch and the method has the following characteristics: the supply or evacuation of the operating medium to or from the working chamber is influenced by the generation and introduction of a static superposition pressure in the closed rotating circuit; the operating medium is supplied or evacuated to or from the working chamber by the application of a superposition or influencing pressure to the operating medium level in the operating medium reservoir (40).

  • Patent number: 6788179
Abstract: An inductive miniature component for SMD-mounting with a coil support (1) formed of synthetic or ferrite material, in or on which is arranged at least one coil winding, whereby outwardly projecting connection pegs (1.1) are arranged on an outer side of the coil support and formed therewith as a single piece, each connection peg having several turns of an end (2.1) of a respective winding wire of a coil wire wound there around. A metallic wire winding (3.1) is disposed between the outer surface of the connection peg (1.1) and the winding wires (2.1), the metallic wire winding being comprised of an electrically conducting wire whose diameter is greater than the diameter of the winding wire and several turns of the metallic wire winding being directly wound on the connection peg (1.1).

  • Patent number: 6450305
Abstract: The invention relates to hydrodynamic machine, especially a hydrodynamic retarder, comprising a housing, components of the hydrodynamic machine being disposed within the housing, and a balancing element. The housing being constructed of a housing material having a coefficient of thermal expansion, which may be greater than a coefficient of thermal expansion at least one of the components. The balancing element having a coefficient of thermal expansion, which may be about that or greater than the coefficient of thermal expansion of the housing material. Also, the balancing element may be axially adjustable with respect to the housing to engage at least one of the components so as to equalize a gap during heating of the hydrodynamic machine.

  • Patent number: 3999385
Abstract: A hydrodynamic coupling for driving pumps, fans, and the like at variable shaft speeds includes coaxial primary and secondary impellers. The space defined within these impellers contains variable quantities of working fluid for transmitting the shaft torque from one impeller to the other. One of the impellers is equipped with a co-rotating casing, which encloses the other impeller and may serve to force working fluid into the working chamber. The fluid exits from the working chamber through an aperture in the higher-lying impeller and returns to a storage chamber from which a conduit transports it to the casing. A control valve in the conduit permits external flow control.

  • Patent number: 3959083
Abstract: In the present method the bulk material, especially coke, is maintained at a substantially constant level on a substantially horizontal support surface. The quenching liquid is permitted to flow uniformly through the bulk material for about 45 to 90 seconds until the vapor temperature is cooled down to at least 400.degree.C. The quantity of the quenching liquid which is uniformly distributed over the bulk material is selected so that it evaporates substantially completely, except for a small moisture content in the quenched material. The present bulk material quenching apparatus has a fireproof container resting on a supporting box, the top of which is a grid structure which simultaneously forms a permeable bottom for the quenching container which is provided with a tightly closing cover. A pipe conduit is connected to the cover which has a plurality of conduit outlet openings directed into the container. The box on which the container rests has at least one hinged side wall.
