  • Patent number: 5632244
Abstract: A spark-ignition reciprocating piston engine has at least one piston cylinder, at least one inlet port arranged at an end of the cylinder, an inlet valve located at the inlet port and that is movable to open and close the inlet port, and an inlet conduit leading to the inlet port for feeding a fluid from a fuel feed to an inlet area of the inlet port. The engine includes a partition arranged within the inlet conduit which divides the inlet conduit into at least two partial conduits over at least a portion of a length of the inlet conduit between the fuel feed and the inlet area. At least one of the partial conduits is connected to the fuel feed. The partial conduits converge directly in front of the inlet port to form the inlet area. The partition is located within a plane that extends essentially transversely to an axis of the cylinder at least in the inlet area.

  • Patent number: 5323645
Abstract: A device to investigate the flow movement in cylindrical components of reciprocating piston internal combustion engines, which flow movement is generated by a flow-guiding system located, as seen in the flow direction, upstream of the cylindrical component, has at least one rotatable measuring vane in the cylindrical component, the axis of rotation of which intersects the axis of the cylindrical component at an adjustable angle other than 0.degree.. A shaft supporting the measuring vane is connected to a device to evaluate the frequency of rotation and/or the position of the angle of the measuring vane in order to determine one or more parameters of the flow movement in the cylindrical component.

  • Patent number: 5094210
Abstract: An intake and fuel/air mixing system for multi-cylinder externally ignited internal combustion engines with at least two inlet valves per cylinder, at least two separate intake pipe arms per cylinder assigned to the inlet valves, and fuel injection. The first intake pipe arms per cylinder are combined into a first group and other intake pipe arms per cylinder are combined into at least one other group. Each group is assigned one throttling member. The first group comprises a common fuel injection, and one injection each is assigned to the intake pipe arms or inlet ports of the other group or other groups. The throttling members of the individual groups are controlled in such a manner that for the region of low air flow rates the first group opens first and the other group or other groups are opened as a function of the speed and load with higher air flow rates.

  • Patent number: 4585818
Abstract: Flame retardant molding compounds comprising polymers of methyl methacrylate having an average molecular weight between 1.times.10.sup.5 and 2.times.10.sup.5, which molding compounds contain from 8 to 15 weight percent of at least one chloroalkylphosphoric acid ester of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is alkyl or ##STR2## and R.sub.2 is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, or chloro-substituted methyl or ethyl.

  • Patent number: 4398135
Abstract: An electric motor drive unit for windshield wipers includes an electric motor having an electrical connection plug housing and a brush holder plate. The plug housing and brush holder plate are provided as an integral unit. The unit is secured between the motor housing and the gear housing. This arrangement and assembly of the drive unit is simplified and less expensive to manufacture.

  • Patent number: 4369387
Abstract: An electric drive unit particularly adapted for actuating windshield wiper assemblies includes a motor having it's armature shaft carrying aportion having two oppositely pitched worm threads. Two worm gear wheels are disposed each on opposite sides of the threaded portion and in engagement therewith. The axes of rotation of the worm wheels are in parallel. Two spur wheels are each concentrically seated on a respective worm wheel. The spur wheels each engage a wheel having its axis of rotation located in a plane defined by the axes of rotation of the worm wheels. The toothed wheel is connected to a drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 4010598
Abstract: The closure flap folding device includes a first conveying means arranged to convey envelopes having open closure flaps into a rotating receiver. The receiver includes a pair of spaced discs mounted on a shaft and the discs have a plurality of radially extending spaced slots therein forming radially extending fingers therebetween. The fingers have a generally square peripheral edge portion and resilient members secured thereto that extend into adjacent slots. An adjustable guide member is positioned between the spaced discs and positions the envelopes within the slot so that the closure flap score line is aligned with the square peripheral edge of the adjacent finger. An arcuate flap folding member is positioned around a portion of the discs and has a portion that converges toward the outer peripheral edge of the discs. As the receiver rotates the closure flaps of the envelopes in the slots contacts the inner surface of the arcuate folding member and the closure flap is partially folded along the score line.
