  • Patent number: 5387626
Abstract: Additive combination for improving the processing properties of water-containing mixtures of building materials. The invention relates to an additive combination for water-containing mixtures of building materials, comprisinga) at least 65% by weight, preferably 65 to 98% by weight, of a water-soluble cellulose ether or a derivative thereof,b) from 1 to 15% by weight of polyacrylamide,c) from 1 to 20% by weight of an alkali metal salt or ammonium salt of a crosslinked, ungrafted or starch-grafted polyacrylate,d) from 0 to 20% by weight of a starch ether ande) from 0 to 15% by weight of a water-soluble alkali metal salt, alkaline earth metal salt or ammonium salt of an arylsulfonic acid-formaldehyde condensation product or of a sulfonic acid-modified product of the polycondensation of melamine and formaldehyde, and to building material mixtures which contain these additive combinations.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 28, 1994
Date of Patent: February 7, 1995

  • Patent number: 5234968
Abstract: Thickening systems for water-based building material mixes, composed of 0.01 to 2% by weight of a water-soluble cellulose ether, 0.01 to 2% by weight of polyvinyl alcohol and 0.005 to 1% by weight of boric acid or salts thereof, the respective percentages being based on the dry substance content of the building material mix.Due to the addition of boric acid or borax, these thickening systems have an improved thickening action compared with thickening mixtures composed only of cellulose ether and polyvinyl alcohol.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 23, 1991
Date of Patent: August 10, 1993
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Gerhard Debus, Heinz-Josef Mann, Martin Ludke
