  • Patent number: 5057971
Abstract: A expandable housing for an electronic device allows additional modules to be received in a simple manner so as to build on a base module and which is suitable for use in a vehicle. The housing comprises a frame, in which provisions are made for receiving a printed circuit board, a base assigned to the frame and a cover, which base and cover are identically constructed, as well as a hood which is fastenable at the frame and serves to hold cables. The frame, cover and base are connected with one another by means of groove-and-tongue connections and are held together, in addition, by through-screws.

  • Patent number: 4763684
Abstract: A gas separation valve assembly for a diesel motor system having a tank with a float therein controlling a valve mechanism through which fuel is dispensed from the tank. A dual sleeve assembly is arranged within the tank having an inner sleeve with a lower end in fluid-tight connection with the tank and an outer sleeve arranged to define an annular space between itself and the outer wall of the tank and an intermediate space between itself and the inner sleeve. Fuel is introduced into the tank through an aperture so as to flow into the annular space between the tank wall and the outer sleeve and then to pass through the intermediate space so as to overflow the inner wall and to flow into an interior space of the tank within which the float is located.

  • Patent number: 4724860
Abstract: A valve assembly controlled by a float permits pressure-free feed of a fluid into a pipeline system, the valve being assigned in operative relationship with a channel which is arranged in the base of the tank containing the float, the channel extending laterally to the normal axis of the tank. The valve is designed as a dual valve with two valve members arranged on a valve rod guided in the direction of the axis of the tank and the channel is defined through a pair of apertures lying opposite each other in the direction of the axis of the tank with valve seats being located about the apertures, the valve members arranged on the valve rod operating to engage and disengage the valve seats to open and close the apertures.

  • Patent number: 4648634
Abstract: A hose connection, particularly for use in motor vehicles, is proposed which ensures a gastight connection already with a low starting torque, is usable repeatedly and whose structural component parts are non-detachably held together in an assembly unit. Supported on the shoulder (7) of a stepped hose sleeve (1), which shoulder (7) is smaller in diameter, is a hollow screw (2) which, when the hose connection is assembled at a rigid duct body (15), presses together a sealing ring (3), which is arranged on the shoulder (8) and has a larger diameter, only until the sealing ring (3) abuts at the end face (22) between the shoulders (7) and (8) of the hose sleeve (1).

  • Patent number: 4577683
Abstract: A heat exchanger for indirect heat transfer between fluid media includes a duct member with the space in its interior divided by a separating wall extending transversely of the duct member axis into a pair of partial spaces. Webs located within the partial spaces and extending helically around the duct member axis form a pair of ducts in each partial space. One fluid medium is circulated through one duct and the other fluid medium through the other duct. The ducts in each partial space are interconnected by passages extending through the separating wall so that the fluid media flow through both partial spaces. The ends of the duct member spaced from the separating wall are closed by a combination seal and cover plate.

  • Patent number: 4501251
Abstract: A booster pump for a secondary fuel circulation system of a diesel engine adapted to be connected with the fuel pump of the primary circulation system by removing a screw plug associated with a piston chamber of the fuel pump in order to permit the booster pump to be threadedly engaged in place thereof by means of a threaded member formed on the housing of the booster pump. A spring actuated piston of the booster pump is thus brought into active connection with a piston of the fuel pump by way of a plunger protruding from the housing of the booster pump.

  • Patent number: 4411239
Abstract: A cooling system for the fuel used in a diesel engine includes a closed fuel injection circuit and a fuel cooling circuit. The fuel injection circuit receives fuel through a suction pipe from a fuel tank and provides a continuously circulating flow of fuel. The fuel cooling circuit flows fuel from and back into the fuel tank. A heat exchanger is connected to both of the circuits and flows the fuel from the fuel injection circuit in indirect heat transfer relation with the fuel in the cooling circuit for removing heat from the fuel in the injection circuit.

  • Patent number: 4369704
Abstract: A printing mechanism, particularly for a counter device which records distances, is formed with a pair of sets of print wheels with a housing defining a slot through which a voucher may be passed to have imprinted thereon information contained on the print wheels. Platens are arranged to press the voucher against the print wheels and platen carriers which are rotatably mounted have the platens eccentrically mounted thereon. Overcenter springs engage the platen carriers, and after the carriers have been rotated through a predetermined angle, the overcenter springs drive the carriers through a further angle of rotation during which the platens are pressed against the print wheels during the printing process. The angle through which the platen carrier is initially rotated to load the overcenter spring is less than the angle through which the platen carrier is driven by the loaded overcenter spring.

  • Patent number: 4209688
Abstract: The housing of an electronic taximeter has a first fixed section including the rear and bottom walls which are fixedly secured to and sealed to the chassis of a taxicab, and a removable second section which may include the front, top and side walls of the housing and has grooves engaging portions of the bottom wall. The entire second section removable to enable adjustment or repair of the basic taximeter apparatus which is mounted on the first section. The second section is formed as a modular element which contains many of the operating elements of the taximeter, including actuating elements such as push-buttons or the like, all of which may be simply removed as a one-piece unit.

  • Patent number: 4039780
Abstract: A mounting and demounting arrangement for an electric taximeter permits a mechanical-to-electrical converter to be slidably received into electrical contact with a socket provided in the taximeter housing or, at the option of a user, the mechanical-to-electrical converter is mounted at a location remote from the housing in order to protect a flexible shaft mechanically coupled to the converter from severe flexing.

  • Patent number: 3997903
Abstract: The recording system has a plurality of recording elements pivotally mounted to make marks in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of transport of the record carrier receiving the marks. Each recording element has a rigid electrically conductive L-shaped supporting member and an electrode mounted on the supporting member. The supporting members are mounted in recesses in a base of an electrically insulating structure. Specifically one leg of each supporting member has two supporting edges separated by a recess. The two edges are accommodated in corresponding openings in the base. An eccentric drives a drive arm having a plurality of plugs. A spring keeps the supporting member of each recording element in contact with the corresponding plug throughout the pivoting of the recording element.

  • Patent number: 3995790
Abstract: A cassette for tape-shaped record carriers having optically viewable recordings has a housing provided with a pair of opposite but spaced end walls and a pair of opposite but spaced side walls which connect the end walls and one of which is transparent. A pair of tape hubs is rotatably mounted in the housing and a tape is convoluted on and extends between the hubs for travel from one to the other thereof. One of the end walls is provided with an opening through which a recording device has access to the tape so as to provide recordings on the same. A guide arrangement in the interior of the housing guides the tape so that when it travels from one to the other of the hubs it must first pass the opening and thereupon must travel past the transparent side wall so that, when the cassette is inserted into an optical readout device, the recordings on the tape are visible through the side wall.

  • Patent number: 3931508
Abstract: An electronic taximeter for fare computation is supplemented in such manner as to be able to add any additional charges or surcharges to the normal fare upon actuation of a predetermined input means the result of such addition being indicated as a sum on the electronic indicating means. Upon release of the input means or upon actuation of other input means this sum is decomposed by subtraction to the original amounts of the normal fare and the surcharges. The input means may be the key provided for switching off the waiting time charge at the end of a trip or it may be a special key for this purpose.
