  • Patent number: 4616754
Abstract: An article for mixing a tray holder has a generally rectangular side panel having upper and lower edges and inner and outer faces, a generally rectangular roof panel projecting generally perpendicular from the inner face of the side panel along the upper edge thereof, and a generally rectangular floor panel projecting generally perpendicular from the inner face of the side panel along the lower edge thereof. These panels are formed along a plane perpendicularly to and bisecting all panels with a weakened region and the roof and floor panels have straight outer edges remote from the side panel that are complementarily shaped to opposite sides of the plane. Thus according to the invention the article can be subdivided into two complementary and interfitting pieces along the plane adn joined together to make a half-depth holder by bonding together the complementary outer edges. A full-depth holder can be made by bonding together the outer edges of two such articles.

  • Patent number: 4584065
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of thin activated electrodes including a base metal, which can be iron, cobalt or nickel, with a good adhering active surface layer. Both the base metal and the surface layer are galvanically sequentially deposited as separate layers on a removable electrically-conductive carrier. The surface layer is deposited as an activatable alloy including the base metal and a leachable metal, particularly zinc. The galvanizing deposited layers are subsequently separated as a unit from the carrier. The alloy is activated by leaching the leachable metal therefrom before, during or after separation of the carrier. Two activatable layers of alloy can be deposited on the carrier with a layer of the base metal deposited between the alloy layers.

  • Patent number: 4543769
Abstract: Method and apparatus for forming and wrapping objects of a soft mass in which a hollow rope of material (11) filled with a liquid (10) is divided into individual pieces (B.sub.1 and B.sub.2) between cutter shoes (20 and 21) moving against each other in that one piece (B.sub.1) after the other (B.sub.2) is simultaneously squeezed by squeezing strips (26 and 27) at its rear end (in feed direction) and separated at its front end (in feed direction) from the preceding piece (B.sub.1) which is subsequently pushed at a right angle to the feed direction (15) of the rope of material (11) into a wrapping station.

  • Patent number: 4495215
Abstract: A fluidized bed furnace for coating fuel particles for nuclear reactors, ticularly high temperature reactors, can be emptied without cooling down the reaction tube by substituting an inert gas for the coating gas and then lowering the inner tube through which this gas is fed so as to clear a passage in the surrounding outer gas feed tube through which the kernels may fall down to a diverting device in the intermediate space between the inner and outer tubes that guides the kernels to a discharge tube. The reaction tube is emptied by lowering the feed gas pressure by cutting off the carrier gas flow and regulating the escape of the inert gas through an overflow pipe. After the reactor is emptied, the flow of carrier gas can be restored and the overflow pipe shut, so that the reactor can be refilled, after which the flow of coating gas is restored and another coating operation can begin without delay.

  • Patent number: 4487078
Abstract: A clamping force relates to a clamping-force transducer for rotating clamping devices which has at least two opposite pressure pieces adapted to be placed on the clamping elements of the corresponding clamping device and arranged in a support member, at least one of which pressure pieces acts on a force transducer the measurement values of which are taken from the rotating clamping-force transducer housing via a stationary transfer housing. To adapt the clamping-force transducer simply to clamping devices having a different number of clamping elements and to different clamping diameters without the rigidity of the clamping-force transducer being changed thereby, the pressure pieces are arranged replaceably but fixed on the arms of a multi-arm measurement member, at least one arm of the measurement member being developed as the force transducer. The measurement member preferably has a star shape with six arms, each of which has a connection for a pressure piece.

  • Patent number: 4455902
Abstract: An apparatus for parting-off pieces, particularly pieces of candy, from a strand of material, particularly a soft plastic strand of material, wherein the parted-off piece arrives on the upper side of the knife blade and is moved by this in the conveying direction so that there is practically no difference in speed between the parted-off piece and the entrainment member of a continuous conveyor engaging behind this, which conveyor pushes the parted-off pieces, with constant spacing apart, to a packing station or another further processing station. As a result, deformation and damage to the parted-off pieces is avoided during the conveying.

  • Patent number: 4369875
Abstract: Apparatus for isolating and feeding objects, particularly sweets, to a pang machine in which objects are transported on a conveyor in a longitudinal row closely one behind the other, displaced sideways one at a time and accelerated to a higher speed spaced longitudinally from one another. Sideways displacement is provided by pressure pieces moving longitudinally with the objects and providing abutment stops for the next succeeding object to be isolated. Part of the rear face of each object is exposed by the sideways motion and a dog of a dog-chain engages the object at this point at the same speed as the pressure piece and then accelerates the object engaged by it such that the row of objects is longitudinally spaced one from another.

  • Patent number: 4292823
Abstract: A cylinder lock which includes plate tumblers in a lock cylinder and a locking channel arranged in a lock casing wherein, when the key is pulled out (locked position of the lock), spring-loaded plate tumblers engage with their locking ends into the locking channel up to an extension length determined by locking stops. The lock casing is provided with an escape channel diametrically opposed to the locking channel for enabling a free resetting motion of the plate tumblers with their counter ends during an insertion of the key. The plate tumblers have, in their key cutouts, tumbler edges arranged at levels corresponding with an associated key cutout depth and, with a key being inserted (free position of the lock), can be reset into the lock cylinder. Stops are provided for limiting the resetting motion of the individual plate tumblers in the escape channel at insertion depths and a varying arrangement of the blocking stops is made in dependence upon a height of the respective tumbler edge.

  • Patent number: 4156632
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the partial separation of water from gas mixtures formed in the manufacture of vinyl acetate by reaction of ethylene with acetic acid and oxygen in the gaseous phase and in the presence of catalysts. In a "predehydration column", more than half of the water formed in the reaction is eliminated without requiring energy feed. The mixture obtained which is relatively poor in water is worked up according to known methods.
