  • Patent number: 5068358
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for separating N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) from aqueous solutions which are obtained in industry, inter alia, in the production of heat-resistance polymers such as polyamides and polyimides.According to the invention, the extractants used are phenols which are sparingly soluble in water, are aliphatically monosubstituted and/or polysubstituted in the nucleus and have 4 to 16 carbon atoms in the straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic radical and have a boiling point which is preferably at least 20.degree.-25.degree. C. above the boiling point of NMP. If necessary, an inert, viscosity-reducing diluent is added.

  • Patent number: 5045444
Abstract: Black-and-white continuous tone reproductions may be obtained under daylight conditions with a photographic recording material in which the silver halide consists to an extent of at least 75 mol % of silver chloride and has been prepared in the presence of a 1-phenyl-5-mercaptotetrazole compound. The material is particularly suitable for reprophotographic work, e.g. for the production of continuously graduated masks.

  • Patent number: 4511437
Abstract: A process for continuous rectification of a liquid mixture containing alcohols, particularly a liquid fermate, employs a plurality of distillation columns to which the liquid mixture is fed in parallel, and which have successively reduced operating pressures and temperatures from an initial one to a final one thereof. The top vapor distillate from the higher-pressure columns supplies driving heat to the sumps of the next successively lower-pressure columns. Direct steam at 130.degree. C. to 160.degree. C. is fed to the sump of the column operated at the highest pressure. Direct steam is generated by indirect heat exchange of water with the top vapor withdrawn from the columns, and the resulting direct steam is fed to the sumps of the next-lower-pressure columns. The apparatus can also include a section for the production of absolute alcohol.

  • Patent number: 4146071
Abstract: The present power driver handles fasteners of varying length mounted on a strip or belt, through a touch-down foot which accommodates fasteners of different length to eliminate wasted motion of the driver. The fasteners are also prevented by said touch-down foot from tipping or going into a workpiece at an angle. The depth to which the fasteners are driven into the workpiece is controllable and any irregularities in the mounting of the fasteners on the strip or belt are compensated.

  • Patent number: 3992852
Abstract: An arrangement is described for assuring a parallel, evenly-spaced relationship among a succession of rod-shaped fasteners, illustratively nails, to be joined by an extruded plastic ribbon and thereafter molded into a nail strip suitable for use in pneumatic nail drivers and the like. A succession of grooves formed in a transfer chain that receives and advances a succession of the nails in a first plane is conventionally contacted by an elongated support means which bears against a first plurality of the grooves on the chain to capture the nails in the grooves. A second pressure member of smaller longitudinal extent than the support member is resiliently mounted in inwardly overlapping relation to the support member adjacent and upstream of the molding portion of the apparatus for contacting the shafts of the captured nails immediately before such nails and the adhered plastic ribbon are molded into the strip.
