Patent number: 9998517Abstract: Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for implementing real-time transport control protocol (RTCP) to obtain end-to-end session information. The system receives an RTCP extension that is associated with an RTCP packet in a communication session. The RTCP extension may include an instruction for transmitting RTCP data based on a triggering event. The RTCP extension can be configured to propagate along the communication session. Next, in response to the triggering event, the system can transmit the RTCP data to an address defined by the instruction as a destination address for receiving information associated with the triggering event.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2015Date of Patent: June 12, 2018Assignee: Avaya Inc.Inventors: Jean Meloche, Heinz Teutsch, Shalini Yajnik, Mehmet Balasaygun

Patent number: 9860296Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for generating an end-to-end quality indication associated with a communication session. Based on a real-time transport control protocol message, the system identifies a media path associated with a communication session. Next, the system determines a respective media leg quality for a plurality of media legs in the media path. Based on the respective media leg quality, the system then determines a media path quality. The system can also generate a media quality indication based on the media path quality, and display the media quality indication.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2012Date of Patent: January 2, 2018Assignee: Avaya Inc.Inventors: Mehmet Balasaygun, Jean Meloche, Heinz Teutsch, Shalini Yajnik

Patent number: 9094496Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for stereophonic acoustic echo cancellation. The method includes collecting, at a same time, a first audio sample of an audio source from a first omnidirectional microphone and a second audio sample of the audio source from a second omnidirectional microphone. The method includes delaying the second audio sample by a first amount of time to yield a delayed second audio sample and combining the delayed second audio sample with the first audio sample to produce a first channel, then delaying the first audio sample by a second amount of time to yield a delayed first audio sample and combining the delayed first audio sample with the second audio sample to produce a second channel. Then the method includes outputting the first channel and the second channel as a stereo audio signal of the audio source.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2010Date of Patent: July 28, 2015Assignee: Avaya Inc.Inventor: Heinz Teutsch

Patent number: 8923530Abstract: A method is disclosed for acoustic feedback attenuation at a telecommunications terminal. A speakerphone equipped with a loudspeaker and two microphones is featured. Signals from the two microphones are subjected to a calibration stage and then to a runtime stage. The purpose of the calibration stage is to match the microphones to each other by advantageously using both magnitude and phase equalization across the frequency spectrum of the microphones. During the runtime stage, the microphones monitor the ambient sounds received from sound sources, such as the speakerphone's users and the loudspeaker itself, during a conference call. The speakerphone applies the generated set of filter coefficients to the optimized microphone's signals. By combining the signal from the reference microphone with the filtered signal from the optimized microphone, the speakerphone is able to attenuate the sounds from the loudspeaker that would otherwise be transmitted back to other conference call participants.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2009Date of Patent: December 30, 2014Assignee: Avaya Inc.Inventors: Eric John Diethorn, Heinz Teutsch

Patent number: 8913758Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for suppressing spatial noise based on phase information. The method transforms audio signals to frequency-domain data and identifies time-frequency points that have a parameter (e.g., signal-to-noise ratio) above a threshold. Based on these points, unwanted signals can be attenuated the desired audio source can be isolated. The method can work on a microphone array that includes two microphones or more.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2011Date of Patent: December 16, 2014Assignee: Avaya Inc.Inventors: Avram Levi, Heinz Teutsch

Patent number: 8817952Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems are provided such that a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) may utilize a new model to handle Open Line emergency calls, including audio optimization, automation, analysis, and presentation. Embodiments of the present disclosure assist with the difficult task of identifying background noise while trying to listen and talk to a caller, and give the best possible audio from the caller to the emergency call-taker or dispatcher. More particularly, an audio stream is split into at least two instances, with a first instance being optimized for speech intelligibility and provided to a call-taker or dispatcher and a second instance being provided for background sound analysis. Accordingly, the new PSAP Open Line model may allow for significantly more efficient emergency assessment, location, and management of resources.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2013Date of Patent: August 26, 2014Assignee: Avaya Inc.Inventors: Jon Bentley, Mark Fletcher, Joseph L.
