The child carrier includes a pair of suspension beams for transferring a load from the child seat to the hip support. Each suspension beam has a beam body with a proximal beam end being connected to the hip support. Each beam body is connected to the backrest of the child seat. The connection to the backrest is beneficial in that an improved load transfer from the child seat to the hips is obtained.
