    Abstract: The present disclosure concerns methods for recombinantly producing functional ataxia-telangiectasia (ATM) protein, methods for isolating recombinant functional ATM protein, and uses of ATM protein including diagnosing a patient for A-T and/or susceptibility to various conditions including cancer, particularly breast cancer, neurological disorders, and heart disease. Specifically, a method is disclosed for determining the amount of ATM protein in a patient's cells, comparing that amount to a reference, and forming a diagnosis.
