    Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methods consistent with disclosed embodiments provide for managing the printing of documents using recycled media. In some embodiments, a printer comprises at least one input tray capable of holding print media; at least one image sensor capable of detecting recycled print media; and a print engine capable of placing marks on documents. The print media received from the input tray is routed to an output tray without marking by the print engine, if the image sensor detects recycled print media in the print media feed path during the processing of a non-recycled print; otherwise the print media is routed to a print engine on the printer.
