  • Patent number: 4779296
Abstract: A limb supporting device for reclining persons has a tri-segments pillow having a volumetrically predominate and apexial central-segment flanked by hingedly associated lower secondary-segments for uprightly stabilizing the limb supporting device upon a bed-like reclining surface. An elongate girth strap gives selectable contour and resiliency to the pillow central-segment according to the limb cradling needs of specific reclining persons.

  • Patent number: 4445899
Abstract: Disclosed are hygienic articles for the rectal perineum region and comprising a blotter member formed of hydrophilic fibers and including: a nodular button of compressed fibers emplaceable within a flaccid anus; a wick of looser fibers located immediately above the anus-emplaced nodular button whereas to absorb rectal secretia and convey same toward the emplaced nodular button; and a relatively massive and lengthy flap of fibers extending downwardly from the nodular button and communicating with the wick. A flexible skirt member might surround the blotter member flap immediately below the nodular button and conform as two folds against the two perineal walls. Therapeutic and/or drying agents might be impregnated into the blotter and/or skirt members.

  • Patent number: 4356579
Abstract: Disclosed are bolster type cushions for therapeutic use, such as for patients reclining in a sleeping bed, convalescents utilizing chair-like supports, etc. The bolster type cushions are provided with apt handle means thereby affording ready manipulation by nurses or other attendant personnel and further provided with water-proof jacket means whereby the cushion might be immersed or otherwise liberally cleansed without seapage of water into the porous body of the cushion. Also disclosed are treads and other means for stabilizing the cushion at the therapeutic environment. The bolster type cushions might be provided with leadwardly tapered form to facilitate insertion into sleeved therapeutic devices. Disclosed also are cushion cross-sectional shapes adapted to permit removably secure engagement within a cross-sectionally smaller and desireably firmer bolster cushion, the dual-cushions combination having advantages for specific patient needs.

  • Patent number: 4349288
Abstract: Disclosed are personal cleansing articles for the recto-genital region, and offering especial convenience to travelers and others without ready access to dressing rooms and conventional bathing facilities. The articles generally comprise a laminar washcloth member, there being below the hydrophilic uppersurface thereof a liquid chargeable laminar-pouch with the pouch-throat being preferably relegated to the washcloth uppersurface that washably contacts the recto-genital anatomy. The user's outstretched hand, with the thumb extending into a thumbway component, supports the washcloth member; thus, this hand controllably expels cleansing liquid from the laminar-pouch toward the contacted recto-genital anatomy. There are desireably hand-engaging means (preferably offering fingertips protection) and hydrophobic barrier means between the laminar-pouch and the hand-engaging means. Foldably extending towel member, as well as other optional and interdependent features are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4192029
Abstract: Disclosed are plural segments cushiony pillows, preferably in the form of three hingedly connected independent cushiony segments, to comfortably nestle, and yet firmly support, the head and the neck of hemiside reclining persons. With the preferred three pillow segments being employed, the medially positioned primary segment is larger than the flanking secondary and tertiary segments, the secondary segment being larger than the tertiary segment. The plural segments head and neck cushiony supportive device has numerous utilitarian advantages including: for geriatric care, for the prevention of snoring, and generally speaking for the promotion of good hemiside reclining posture thus enhancing comfortable sleeping and resting.
