  • Patent number: 6081276
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for creating a color name dictionary. A predetermined color space is identified. The predetermined color space is divided into a plurality of color space segments. A color name is assigned to each of the plurality of color space segments. A method and apparatus are provided for querying an image by color name. An image is acquired from an image source, such as an image database. A pixel is acquired from the acquired image. The acquired pixel is compared with a color name volume. A color name volume containing the acquired pixel is identified.

  • Patent number: 5614925
Abstract: Faithful color images are created in an efficient manner for display on a specific computer display. A standard computer system generates a palette calibration table, based on information about a standard display. The standard computer system then creates a device independent image from the palette calibration table and from an original image. The palette calibration table and device independent image are then transmitted to a specific computer system. The specific computer system receives the palette calibration table and device independent image from the standard computer system. It calculates a display specific palette from the palette calibration table and from information about the specific display. The specific computer system then generates the faithful color image for display by sending the device independent image and the display specific palette to the display adapter in the specific computer system.

  • Patent number: 5420967
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the efficient generation of high quality images in a computer system is provided. A user requests that one or more images be generated. Representation of each requested image and any existing images are added to an image table. Representations of a group of intermediate images are then added to the image table. Each intermediate image corresponds to a change of an image state between an existing image and a requested image. For example, if a requested image is smaller than an existing image, the scaling of the existing image is a change of image state and will result in the addition of the representation of an intermediate image to the image table. Note that the intermediate image itself is not actually computed or generated at this time. After the representation of each intermediate image has been added to the image table, image paths are built from any existing image to any requested image.

  • Patent number: 4521263
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and process for making a sterile connection between two thermoplastic resin tubes is disclosed. The tubes are cut by a hot cutting means so as to form a molten interface between the tubes and the cutting means. The tubes are aligned with each other and slid off an edge of the cutting means while being urged together. As the thermoplastic resin cools a sterile splice is formed. The apparatus is controlled to provide precise timing of the above events and includes safeguards to ensure sterility is maintained.
