  • Patent number: 5188585
Abstract: A lumbo-sacral support formed by the combination of a lumbo-sacral belt adapted to encircle the torso of the wearer and a separate, releasable, fastenable compression belt which can be infinitely positioned vertically or horizontally across the lower back and lumbar regions of the wearer. In a more specific aspect, a lumbar pad is used in combination with the primary belt and compression belt.

  • Patent number: 5160314
Abstract: A unitary body support adapted to be pulled onto and positioned about the hand and wrist area and adapted to anatomically conform to the wrist and basal hand of the wearer comprises a sleeve constructed of a resilient elasticized fabric including an outer layer having a brushed looped texture. The sleeve is provided with a thumb opening and means for receiving a palmar stabilizing stay, with the stay being removable. The sleeve includes an integral compression strap which is sufficiently long to extend around the wrist at least once and which is provided at its free end with hook attachment means for releasable engagement with the outer fabric loops. The sleeve also includes means which makes pulling the sleeve on easier and for adjusting the wrist opening to accommodate to the wrist girth.

  • Patent number: 5139476
Abstract: There is disclosed a knee wrap support adapted to be wrapped about the knee comprising a body portion preferably formed of an elasticized fabric laminate. Wrap strips extend away from the main body portion of the support. Each encircling wrap is of sufficient length to encircle the entire thigh or calf, as the case may be, at least once. The outer surface of the support preferably comprises an elasticized fabric having a surface comprising looped fastening means. The inner surface is adapted to be worn next to the skin and preferably comprises an elasticized cotton fabric. The inner surface of the free end of each encircling wrap strip is provided with hooked fastening for releasably engaging to outer surface looped fastening means, preferably to the looped fastening means on the outer surface of the proximal and distal wraps.

  • Patent number: 5139477
Abstract: There is disclosed a ready-to-wear pull-on knee support adapted to be placed over the knee, said support comprising a generally cylindrical body comprising a resilient flexible unitary sleeve, which is preferably formed from an elasticized fabric laminate. The elasticized fabric laminate includes an open-cell polymeric foam core, an outer surface comprising an elasticized fabric having a looped structure and an inner surface for wear next to the body, comprising an elasticized cotton fabric. The support includes integral parallel proximal and distal encircling straps adapted to encircle the lower thigh and upper calf, respectively, medial and lateral stabilizing or reinforcing straps and infinitely adjustable proximal and distal posterior closure means. A patella opening can be provided for patella support.

  • Patent number: 5139479
Abstract: There is disclosed a ready-to-wear ankle support adapted to be pulled over the foot and positioned about the ankle area. The ankle support is prepared from a resilient flexible material which is preferably elasticized fabric laminate having a low moisture-absorbent elasticized fabric inner (next to the skin) liner and a moisture-absorbant outer layer comprising an elasticized fabric having a brushed looped texture. The support includes an infinitely adjustable tibia closure and an integral wrap strap which is provided with hook fastening means for releasable attachment to the loop fastening means of the outer surface. The wrap strap is drawn about the support in a figure 8 wrap to provide a desired level of compression to the affected area.
