  • Patent number: 8491593
Abstract: A medical system includes parts used in a method for detachably establishing a spatial orientation between a body implant and an aiming device. A positioning arm being connected to the aiming device and an adaptor device being connected to or integrally formed with a bone stabilizing plate are hooked into each other. This is accomplished by means of an engaging element of the positioning arm, which engaging element is designed such that it may be coupled with an attachment element of the adaptor device. Further, there is provided a snapping mechanism which is designed to automatically engage in an interlocking element of the adaptor device, when the positioning arm, when hooked into the adaptor device, is rotated relative to the adaptor device towards a final angular position.

  • Publication number: 20120143261
Abstract: A system for inserting an augmentation pin into an augmentation screw, including a pin-inserter with an axial through-bore and a lateral opening. A pin-magazine with a pin-retainer for an augmentation pin in insertable in the lateral opening. The pin-magazine is placed in the lateral opening of the pin-inserter and an augmentation pin in the pin-retainer is aligned with the axial through-bore. The augmentation pin may be pushed by means of a pusher from the pin-magazine into an augmentation screw, when the augmentation screw is arranged in front of the pin-inserter.

  • Publication number: 20110251600
Abstract: An ultrasonic applicator includes an ultrasonic converter accommodated within a converter housing, a first housing, and a second housing. A rear end portion of the first housing is located in the second housing and an inner end portion of the converter housing is located in the rear end portion of the first housing. A length of the rear end portion of the first housing is adjustable. An outer end portion of the converter housing is connected with the second housing via an elastic element, so that a restoring force may be applied on the converter housing by virtue of a movement of the converter housing relative to the second housing.

  • Publication number: 20110245832
Abstract: A reamer has a flexible carbon fiber composite shaft coupled to an interface element by wrapping a carbon fiber material so as to provide a reliable connection between the shaft and the interface element while maintaining flexibility of the shaft. The reaming device shaft has a mounting portion, the mounting portion having an end face and an outer surface. An interface element for mechanical coupling of an external device is provided and comprises a mounting portion, the mounting portion having an end face and an outer surface.

  • Publication number: 20110245831
Abstract: A reaming device comprising a shaft with a mounting portion, the mounting portion having an outer surface; a carbon fiber layer located on the mounting portion outer surface; an injection molded interface element for mechanical coupling of an external device molded on the carbon fiber layer, the interface element having a mounting portion; wherein the carbon fiber layer extends over the outer surface of the shaft mounting portion and having an outer surface, wherein the carbon fiber layer outer surface has a non-smooth surface structure; wherein the injection molded interface element mounting portion is injection molded over the carbon fiber layer surface structure The method according to claim 12, further comprising preparing of shaft mounting portion before wrapping a carbon fiber layer for establishing a reliable connection between the shaft and the carbon fiber layer.

  • Publication number: 20100256688
Abstract: A screw for fixation of, for example, a fracture having a hollow shaft, a first outer thread and radial openings at its distal end, and a second outer thread and an inner engagement portion at its proximal end. The second outer thread is adapted to engage with a tissue protection sleeve. The inner engagement portion is adapted to fit to a driving end of a driving tool. By way of this, forces in axial or radial direction may be applied to the screw by the sleeve, and forces in rotational direction may be applied by the driving tool. Therefore, the screw can be installed accurately at the intended site in an object.

  • Publication number: 20090005786
Abstract: A measuring device for measuring the length of a through-hole in a bone has an elongated hollow sleeve preferably having an outer cross-section adapted to a cross-section of the through-hole and having an opening at its distal extremity. The measuring device further comprises a rod having a hook-shaped end at its distal extremity. The rod is at least partly housed within the hollow sleeve and is slidable with respect to the sleeve along its longitudinal axis. The sleeve and the rod are designed such that, when the rod is slid to a distal position of the sleeve, the hook-end can be displaced such as to protrude through the opening of the sleeve and laterally over the lateral outer surface of the sleeve. When the rod is slid to a proximal position of the sleeve, the rod no longer protrudes laterally over the outer surface of the sleeve.

  • Publication number: 20080039857
Abstract: A targeting device for targeting a cross bore in a bone nail has an arm member coupled to an end portion of the bone nail and an aiming portion forming part of the arm member extending parallel to a longitudinal axis of the bone nail. An adjustable aiming device is mounted on the aiming portion, the adjustable device having a guide bore alignable with the cross bore in the nail. The adjustable device is moveable with respect to the aiming portion in a direction perpendicular to a plane containing both the nail longitudinal axis and central axis of the cross bore. A target indicator is mounted on the adjustable aiming device. The target indicator has a radiolucent body including first and second spaced parallel planar portions each having a spaced radiopaque element therein.
