  • Patent number: 9062650
Abstract: The invention concerns a Wells turbine, comprising a hub with a plurality of rotor blades having a drop-shaped profile orienting from a profile nose; the rotor blades are attached to the hub in a rotary fashion by means of a foot part such that the rotor blade angle is variable with respect to the plane of rotation, wherein the associated rotational axis intersects the chord for each profile section in a threading point, which is located in a region between the profile nose and the aerodynamic center of the profile; the adjustment of the blade angle is made passively by the equilibrium occurring during the operation of the wells turbine between the aerodynamic torque, acting on the rotor blades, and the centrifugal torque, wherein the average density of the rotor blade is selected to be less than 2700 kg/m3 and/or the mass distribution within the profile is selected such that the surface centrifugal torque of the rotor blade is reduced relative to a profile made from a solid and/or the surface centrifugal to

  • Publication number: 20130277978
Abstract: The invention relates to a turbine installation for extracting energy from sea waves comprising a chamber which comprises one respective opening at its bottom and upper end; a conduit which is open at both ends for guiding an air flow; the bottom end of the chamber is provided for submersing in seawater, and the opening at the upper end is connected to one of the ends of the conduit; a power unit which is enclosed by the conduit and is arranged coaxially to said conduit; the power unit comprises at least one turbine rotor with rotor blades and a generator which is coaxially to the rotor and is in drive connection with said rotor; a damping device which is arranged in the conduit between the chamber and the power unit. The invention is characterized by the following features: the damping device is a shutter device, comprising at least two plates which have perforations and which fill the cross section of the conduit at least in part.

  • Patent number: 4720240
Abstract: A cover for turbines or pumps, which is substantially less expensive than a cover having a cast construction. The cover is made of welded metal plates in a shape which generally corresponds to that of Kaplan type turbines, pumps or the like, and includes a number of thick walled rings and shells having a conical shape or envelope. The cover comprises a flat radial ring which is supported between the outer covering of the machine and a first, conical, axially-extending shell which concentrically surrounds the shaft of the machine, and tapers narrower toward the runner of the machine which is rotated by the shaft. A second shell is also conical, defines a lesser conical angle than the first shell, and extends from an exterior region of the first shell and toward the runner. A radial bearing is mounted on the first shell for supporting the shaft.

At least one bearing is mounted between the flat ring and the shaft. The flat ring and the first and second shells are sheet metal and are welded together.
