  • Patent number: 5197943
Abstract: Finger splint for fixing the distal finger joint in an oblique position, consisting of a shell (1) supporting the distal finger joint and the distal phalanx of the finger on the underside, which are connected to one another near the distal finger joint by means of an annular part (3). In order to be able to permit an adaptation to different swellings of the finger, while at the same time retaining the splint shape adapted anatomically to the finger, the upper-side shell (2) is made divided (longitudinal slot 5) and the splint consists of elastically or plastically flexible material.

  • Patent number: 4944762
Abstract: The invention relates to a femoral hip-joint endoprosthesis having a shaft to be inserted into the medullary cavity (4) of the femur (1) and a support plate (7), which terminates the shaft proximally and the under surface (12) of which is provided for support on the resection surface (16) of the bone. The overall axis (6) of the resection surface is inclined. The prerequisites for the transfer of forces from the prosthesis to the bone are improved when the under surface (12) and the resection surface (16), which is prepared to be of the same shape, are formed so that the medial part of the under surface includes an angle with the axis of the femur which is, on average, larger than its lateral part. A cylindrical shape of the two surfaces witha cylindrical axis running from anterior to posterior, or a spherical shape, are particularly advantageous. Furthermore, it is advantageous to form the under surface as a surface of revolution about a rotation axis running transverse to the under surface.

  • Patent number: 4908036
Abstract: Endoprosthesis having a stem to be anchored in the bone and a separate bone support. The devices for holding the bone support on the shaft are designed such that the bone support is pivotable, preferably spherically mobile, so that it adjusts itself automatically to the position of the bore surface supporting it.

  • Patent number: 4698063
Abstract: A device for embedding in bone, in particular as a femoral hip-joint prosthesis, comprises a head part, a stem to be anchored in the bone, and a support collar terminating the stem at the head end. In order to make it easy for the surgeon, on reoperation, to remove the prosthesis stem from the bone tissue, the support collar can be removed. In addition, it can be combined with an anchor for attachment to the greater trochanter. By this means, on the one hand, the support collar is fixed in the envisaged position and, on the other hand, the greater trochanter participates with the adjacent lateral areas of the bone in taking up the load.

  • Patent number: 4658808
Abstract: An arrangement for preparing an anatomically measured endoprosthesis with a stem to be anchored in the widening end of a hollow bone, in particular a hip joint stem prosthesis to be anchored in the femur, uses radiographs true to scale, a set of a limited number of prosthesis templates and a set of corresponding prosthesis preparation models. In order to obtain greater variability and facilities for individual adaptation, a set of partial templates for that part of the prosthesis stem is provided which is to be anchored in the outer bone section forming the greatest widening. To determine the dimensions of the adjoining prosthesis stem sections, a direction scale and indicator are provided, the partial template and the a direction scale and indicator being mutually connected or connectable in defined directions. A set, corresponding to the partial templates, of trial preparation sections which are connectable to trial prosthesis sections; and for the adjoining prosthesis sections, is provided.

  • Patent number: 4645506
Abstract: A hip joint endoprosthesis has a downward tapering stem (1) which is to be anchored in the femur and is composed of a main part (7) connected to the condyle head (4) and of a plurality of wedge pieces (10) which are movably guided longitudinally along the main part by means of cooperating guide surfaces (11,12). The friction on the guide surfaces between the main part (7) and the wedge pieces (10) is smaller than the friction caused by the outer surface (13), formed for promoting adhesion, of wedge pieces (10) on the bone. When the medullary cavity receiving the prosthesis stem widens, the load on the main part (7) causes an expansion of the wedge pieces (10) and hence an adaptation of the shape of the prosthesis.

  • Patent number: 4641749
Abstract: Holding stand for surgical instruments which has a comb bar having receiving recesses for instrument shafts. To secure or release simultaneously all of the instrument shafts in the associated receiving recesses, a locking bar is allocated to the comb bar, which locking bar is arranged adjacent and parallel to the comb bar and can be moved relative to the comb bar in the longitudinal direction and, at each receiving recess of the comb bar, has a locking lug which, as a result of the displacement, can be pushed over the instrument shaft or removed from the latter, which instrument shaft is located in the receiving recess.
